2015-2016 Dartmouth College (Geisel) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Great, thank you so much! Now I just have to decide whether I want to take the train from Boston back home that runs from 9:30 to 4:30 AM...
I did exactly that and, while it's obviously a long night on the train, the timing works out so that it's pretty calm. Also you save the cost of another night in a hotel.

Rejected. Complete 7/5-7/7 and typed up an update that I was going to send today. I'm really good at dodging these rejection waves only to get cut later, hahaha.

Good luck to those waiting!

II! Complete beginning of August. Dates offered for mid December and early January

II, Same dates offered as above (1/3 chance I'll see you that day @meant4med lolllll), Complete late Aug (was waiting on Committee Letter).

Super excited, one of my top choices and a great fit for me!

Edit: sent an update letter a week or so ago.

Update just via email? Or attached as PDF?
When you email them, you'll get this auto reply:

Thank you for your email and your interest in the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth!

If you are asking questions about applying to Geisel, you will hear from us soon.

Inquiring about sending us application updates? We do accept them and are able to add them to your file if the updates are either in the body of your email or attached as a Word document. Unfortunately, we are not able to upload large documents and publications, but linking to them is fine and the link will be added to your file.

Are you reaching out during the application cycle for an update on your file? Please know that we do not provide status updates for files during the review process. We will contact you via the “preferred” email address you have in AMCAS as soon as a decision is made.

Again, thank you for contacting us.

Sincerely,

The Geisel Admissions Team

Wicked, many thanks.

For those of you who flew in on that tiny Cape Air plane into Lebanon, how terrifying is it? 🙂:nailbiting::lame:

I'm a current student here, let me know if you have any questions 🙂

Also, admission wise, the committee does not review by chronological order of when secondaries were completed. We also send IIs throughout the year and do not front load them and will invite up to early March.

How is living in what seems to be a pretty small, kinda remote area?

I didn't take Cape Air, but I heard that it was interesting. Apparently they weigh you and your luggage to make sure the plane isn't overloaded. I took the Dartmouth Coach and it worked great!

You calling me fat?!?!!

jk

Lol.

Man, that little plane would've been so fun 😀 Almost a shame it was much cheaper to fly into Manchester from here.

That plane ride was really fun. The only scary part was how close to other structures it got when flying into Boston...

It was hard for me to adjust to at the beginning, coming from a big city. But a ton of people are and we've found to it be fine now. A lot of people do weekend road trips to Boston, NYC, Montreal, etc. The good thing about living in a quiet place is the bills are all much cheaper.

For those that submitted pre-II updates, where did you submit them? Email to the admissions office?

I sent an e-mail to the admissions office and received a response the day after that it will be added to my file.

Complete 7/6 and sent in a big update two weeks ago, hope I get an II soon!

Is it still suggested to wait until waitlist decision for a LOI at Dartmouth? It seems the wait for post-interview will be indefinite (Jan-April) so I was thinking of sending a LOI sooner rather than later.
