...dude. Stop.

...dude. calm down. It's not the end of the world. It's to help those that use this thread in the years down the road that are trying to gauge their chances at this school
\'''/
quite comical how this comes across as the worst thing to happen in each person's life today. haha
its a bit annoying but bro i see what ur doing. people being to dramatic over this

I'm finding it difficult to say anything meaningful about "Why MCW?" in 1,000 characters, but I guess they decided they don't want anything too deep after adding essays for the first time last year! Time to submit 🙂
I feel like schools that ask this question are insecure and need their egos massaged. Im from Wisco and still ended up doing the usual...skim the reference materials and fluff it up. Really a waste of question unless you have a tie to that school, probably less than 10% of applicants due to lower LizzyM and being a private school...more OOS heavy.

They finally got around to pulling my amcas letters which I guess is good after 3 weeks.

Secondary submitted: 7/30
Secondary marked as complete: 8/10

Can you please expand on the requirements for those in graduate programs? By this, I mean the additional letter of rec. I have yet to apply to this school (I'll add it when I get my scores and am AMCAS verified next week), and I have not seen anything about this on their website. What if faculty from my graduate program already wrote letters???

I think they just need one letter from each institution. I sent in my committee letter from my masters program, accompanied by a pack of letters from various PIs/doctors I've worked with. But after speaking with the MCW admissions office on the phone, I sent an additional letter from my undergrad advisor just in case.

Thanks-- that's kind of the situation that I am in, except I have a committee letter from my undergraduate institution that comes with 5 other letters from various supervisors and professors. I suppose I will give MCW a call or email when it truly becomes a question for me. I would not mind having another letter written from my grad program, but I think that I probably got the two best ones already...

Also, do you or anyone else know if MCW pre-screens before sending secondaries? I am wondering if this is a good one to pre-write.
don't screen

mcat is in, letter isn't even tho sent them to school via amcas, filled out secondary yesterday, should I wait or call?

NOOOOO00000000oooooooooo!!!! Somehow their secondary slipped through in my email and I just now saw it (received July 17th 🙁) I really wanted to go to this school so I submitted anyways, but I'm sure that looks awful to submit the secondary four weeks later

Submitted secondary July 7th. Still incomplete. It says 2/3 items received...?? My MCAT score just came out on July 21st. Could this be the holdup?

I submitted 7/25 and for me it still says only 1/2 required items received... my MCAT score from 7/21 hasn't shown up yet.

I submitted 7/21 and I took my MCAT in April. My app still says 1/2 so I assume that things are off on their end.

I heard it's a myth that they care at all. Can someone confirm this? I think the reason why you want to submit asap is simply because you want to be considered asap

Spent some time looking at last year's thread.

It looks like "small pool" emails started going out on August 18 (which was a Monday last year), so maybe this Monday they'll start going out! Apparently there were multiple batches of small pool emails that were sent out. Based on discussions in last year's thread it looked like numbers played some sort of role in the process, but it's likely that a holistic screen is used since there was a wide range of Lizzy Ms receiving small pool notifications.

got this today:

"Thank you for completing your application for MCW Medical School. Your completed file is currently under review. The Admissions Committee reviews applications based on completion date. Applicants will be invited to interview until we have secured our incoming class and alternate list. Please note that the Office of Admissions will not accept updates to your application until you have been invited to interview. All final decisions will be communicated via email.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Admissions. Thank you for your interest in MCW Medical School."

I called and it turns out I have to send some extra paperwork because I mentioned on my AMCAS that I was placed on Academic Warning like 4 years ago. Pretty annoying because I have to get in touch with my old community college and get the dean to send this form to MCW. Wish I would have known about this a month ago...

Did they tell you you were complete or send you a complete email and then tell you this? Or are they telling you you need this to be complete? I ask because I got the complete email today, finally, but I actually have something similar in my past (also mentioned on AMCAS) so I'm concerned they're going to turn around and now tell me I need some sort of letter as well.

Submitted my secondary 7/14 and it says 1/2 received

Never got a complete email or any email at all other than the "thank you for your money." Was kinda wondering what's going on so I logged on to the portal and saw the "2/3" items received status. It doesn't even say what the items are.

For those of you that are Wisconsin residents, did you submit the residency determination approval in order to be complete? I'm assuming not because getting a state of Wisconsin paper work steeple chase in order to be complete would take forever.

Someone else said they emailed them about it and they fixed it. It may be worth a shot.

I called them like two days ago, and they said it's just an issue with their computer. I submitted over a month ago and mine still says 1/2, but she says the materials are there, the system's just not working

Is your 1/2 that the MCAT score wasn't received, or that the rec letter wasn't received? I emailed admissions but haven't heard back just yet.

My 1/2 is for letters for rec, emailed but have not heard back either. Hopefully they have it and it's just not reflected on the portal =(

So I submitted my secondary a few days ago and just got the email that my secondary is complete and that my application is currently under review. However, my pre-health committee letter hasn't even been submitted to AMCAS yet. I only submitted an optional physician letter, but I assigned both the physician letter and committee letter to MCW. Wtf am I supposed to do??

suicide is not the option. I would suggest dropping out of college immediately and live the nomadic life

Mine is 1/2 for letters I think. When I emailed they said they have all of my stuff and not to worry.

WI resident here. I submitted the Residency Determination a month ago just so they have something to reference besides legal address. For instance, you could list a relative's address in WI.

I'm a WI resident. Didn't submit anything ... :\ doesn't it say this needs to be submitted prior to matriculation? Maybe I'll get on that, but from my understanding it shouldn't affect admissions.... What do you think @Eye on MD ?

I am inclined to agree with that - as long as it's in before the start of classes. In hindsight I was probably overly cautious. :angelic:

WI resident here as well. I agree with your interpretation cxra-- no need to submit residency until matriculation. I think Eye on MD was just being super proactive 🙂

Fill out the WI residency paperwork as soon as possible - it may not have much of an impact in their decision, but it can be a long (i.e. months!) process, and you want it confirmed for financial aid. I had mine sent in September last year, and it didn't get resolved until February, and MCW was anxious for it to get cleared up. (It was delayed on the State's end for some reason... probably was an uncommon occurrence.)

Hey everyone, I think I'm a little bit confused by their secondary- I don't need to input any info about letters, correct? They'll just pull from AMCAS? The way it's laid out on the website seems confusing to me. I submitted my secondary, but am still 0/3 (I have an IA paperwork to send in).

Mine is for MCAT score (6/20) but the way she was talking, she made me believe that basically the whole system is skiwompus, lots of people have been calling but everyone's info is fine, the computer's just kinda dumb.
