Secondary received!
Secondary received!
what a great attitude! I have to keep reminding myself that I'm lucky to be receiving all these essays to write, despite my feelings to the contrary on occasion.6+, Yeah another secondary. I only have 8 left to complete, and 9 is a much nicer number!!
it says it takes several hours for that email, i wouldnt worryQuestion: Did anyone else try to log back in to their application after submitting the payment but the link that was included in the Northwestern email just routed you to a page that says "2015 entering class application"? I didn't get an email confirmation of my submission of my app or anything...
in the same position. I was doing so well until I got about 9 in 2 days 🙁6+, Yeah another secondary. I only have 8 left to complete, and 9 is a much nicer number!!
Not yet for me! Glad to see another MSTP applicant on SDN though 🙂Any MSTP applicants get a secondary?
No, I think they are referencing you, not others for the box checking. Now, you can relate your interactions with your family members, seeing their struggles, and hopefully, what you did to contribute to helping alleviate their suffering. For the diversity questions, would it be acceptable to check the box stating "Medically underserved background (ever enrolled in Medicaid, sought medical services at free clinics, delayed or went without medical care due to cultural, financial, or geographic barriers)" if my father's family grew up in poverty and couldn't afford medical care? Some of his family still live in these conditions, but I personally have not been medically underserved.
Those questions want to know about things that you have personally experienced, so if you have not personally gone to a free clinic or had Medicaid because your own family did not have health insurance, I would leave it blank. It would be really unfortunate if they asked you in an interview about how that influenced you if it hasn't. Not saying that having that family has not influenced your experience, but you yourself were not medically underserved. Anyone else getting a "500 Internal Server Error" when they click on the secondary link?
If I were you, I wouldn't. I'm always very very very cautious about those types of questions because I never know what they wanted specifically and how they would interpret me putting certain information down. However, if your uncles/aunts/cousins situation was that dire and influenced majorly your desire to pursue a career in medicine, then you would have to make that abundantly clear in your answer.Do you think it would be acceptable then to explain in the text box about my family's situation and how it has affected me?

I can't access the other essays....can anybody post them? Thanks
Nevermind. Found them
I feel your situation especially in light of this prompt. I'm white, and I put a diversity essay in regard to my academic background/unique aspects of my file I wanted to bring up in the Pritzker one but NOT Fienberg because As you mentioned this was tailored to the SES and gender identity and ethnicity type diversity.Ayyyy Diversity essays like these always put me in a bind.
I'm not an underrepresented minority and honestly there are slews of other asian males that can "add to the diversity" of Feinberg who may encompass more diverse social backgrounds than me. BUT I want to show Feinberg that I'm not "just another asian male". I have unique academic interests and ambitions.
I wanted to put this in the Diversity section - what do people think? Is it OK to put in my academic interests and experiences that make me unique and how those would add to Feinberg's class? Other schools or more vague about diversity so I can put my interests in there, but this one seems pretty tailored to only ethnic/social/sexual diversity.
Let me know![]()
MSTP Seconadry! 6 Essays (different from MD, more research focused)

Yeah I was fifty-fifty on doing the same for Feinberg as the rest of them based on what was said at the top of the page (IDK if I am mixing up secondaries at this point but I thought that Feinberg's was like 'broadly defined diversity blah blah blah). So I thought that my original "diversity" prompt answer would suffice, but then the subsequent questionnaire is what really deterred me haha...I actually forgot to mark "heterosexual" on there because I thought none of them would apply to me hahaI'm wondering the same thing. As a white, straight male raised in a normal household I feel like I can't use this as a reason to add diversity. BUT, when it says how you would bring diversity to the school, it doesn't specify that it needs to be based on parts A-C. It could be an extension of your answers there. At the top it defines diversity as the totality of characteristics and experiences of students. I think it is pretty narrow minded to think of characteristics and experiences simply as race and orientation so I don't see any issue using this as a typical diversity question.

I just didn't mark Any of them hahapDid you mark "other" then?? hahah But yeah I am using the space to put my normal diversity essay. They seem to hint that identity is only one aspect of diversity and that there is much more.
I find it by going to this link and logging in and its right thereI just submitted my secondary; where on the portal can I see my application status? I can't actually find the application status, even though the portal says "The current status of your application will appear on this page."
Question on Letters of Recommendation for here.
I am technically a "non-traditional" student - graduated college in 2010 and with my Masters in 2012 and have been working for the Navy since. Since my original degree was not in the sciences, I am taking my pre-requisites at a 4-year university part-time.
Since I have the ability to receive a letter from the pre-health committee at my current school, where I am taking my pre-requisites, can I do that? Or should I submit LORs from my supervisor, grad advisor, etc.? I emailed Northwestern and they sent me back an answer that did not really answer my question.
