2015-2016 Stanford University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Question for those that have interviews: Does Stanford generally interview on Saturdays? I noticed the most recent available dates people indicate is feb6.

edit: nevermind, I noticed there have been several tuesdays and also a thursday in the past

I am sorry for those whoe got the axe. However, was there a portal change for any of you? I ask because I am very suprised I am still alive here, and am becoming paranoid about missing an email (or something) and want to know if there is another way to check. Thanks.

I second this concern... I looked back to my 2012/2013 cycle and noticed I never received a rejection from Stanford.. d'oh.

Nope, no portal change

Rejected via email! No portal change. Complete 10/24. Good luck to everyone still in the running and congrats to everyone with II/acceptances!

Of all the schools I've encountered, Stanford seems to have the most mysterious process from secondary submission to II. I can't figure out of there's any rhyme or reason to the order in which they work through our apps...plenty of folks submitted far after me have been axed or II'd and I still got silence. Other places have seemed at least vaguely chronological. Thoughts?

Ugh if they're relying so heavily on cut and dry LizzyM AND MMI nonsense, they can keep their farm for themselves.

Quite certain that's not the case though, I've seen no correlation to LizzyM and order of rejection/II for any of the folks I've talked with personally.

Stanford does not need to explain to plebeian premeds their rhyme or reason. There is definitely an explanation, but we ain't gonna figure it out through some random selection of SDN posts in a single cycle. So everybody just wait patiently and stop driving yourself crazy!

Their process has shifted considerably with the new dean and is still under "refinement".

Complete 8/13 and still nothing. I changed my preferred email address on amcas in December (permanent stayed the same), any chance I just missed a rejection? I assumed all schools would get the updated contact information.

Forget the Rejection, missing a II is worse. As a policy it is not a good idea to make changes to any personal information when dealing with long lead time events.

I've also heard of their emails going to people's spam folders.

Haha true!! I totally agree with you about making changes! Long story short it was an email connected to my old university that I thought expired in 2017, but regardless I set up lifetime forwarding so I think I covered my bases. Bummer there aren't portal updates!

eek..sorry to hear. Did you receive an email today or was that part of Tuesday's group?
I was part of Tuesday's group but was on a whirlwind trip to DC for an interview (which only softened the blow a little) so I wasn't on the forum at all. Good luck!

Sorry Voler. I can only assume that I am next.
Hopefully not! As a Ca native I applied to all the Ca schools. I got one II, nothing from one (UCR), and the rest are rejections. Ouch!

AAMC automatically loads new contact info into school databases every week
