When you were complete if you don't mind me asking for these pre-interview holds? I've been waiting for ANY response at all for weeks.

So with these pre-interview holds.. has anyone heard back in previous threads..

I didn't track individual responses from last year or anything but I googled "suny upstate hold" and saw random stats thrown around from 50% get interviewed (in 2003) to less than 10% (in 2008 I think)

On hold, complete 7/24
IS, from the area, did research and volunteering at Upstate
33MCAT (9/10/14)
3.36/3.23 (Probably why I'm on hold)

Its not your GPA, I have a 33( 11/10/12) and a 4.0/4.0 and I was placed on hold too

Yes, but I do not mean this offensively in anyway, but you're a Canadian….so you're an international applicant.
yeah but they technically accept a number of Canadians every year. Let's wait and see if another Canadian gets an II here with different stats

Also Canadian here, no II yet, put on "pre-interview hold". But I found this on their website: "Throughout the application process, Canadian students are treated the same as US residents in that they must complete the same pre-requisite course work, application requirements etc." But that's all they have to say about that.

II! First one!
I'll be traveling from NYC.
Does anyone have any recommendations for lodging or how to get to Syracuse (MegaBus, Greyhound, Amtrak)? I wanted to stay somewhere cheap and walking distance to the school.

Can anyone tell me how to check the status? Should I use the same secondary application link? Thanks!

I received the complete email on July 31.

Edit: found the answer from previous discussion. There is still no change at all in my portal...

When is your interview? I decided to drive from NYC. I would not mind splitting gas and tolls with a passenger. Still havent settled on hotels.

Same although I was complete a few days later...

So, dumb question, but this interview is taking place at Weiskotten Hall, correct? There were no precise instructions at to which room/ building to congregate to; but given
that the invite gives details on parking near Weiskotten, I'm presuming that's where the MMI will take place.

Anyone else notice that there's now a "withdraw MD Medicine Application" button next to the processed app link? It wasn't there yesterday... Maybe it's a suggestion :/

Has the "Withdraw MD Application" button always been there? I just checked the portal today and that was the first time I noticed it.

Completed my secondary a few days ago, waiting on my Aug 21 MCAT score. What does II stand for? It looks like secondaries but most of you place it in context of interviews.

Really though. Haha I've seen some MDApps that use "2°" for secondary, and while that makes everything more concise, I just don't have the time to insert the degree symbol lol

Hahaha seriously its quicker to type "secondary" than find the degree symbol. And I'm sure someone would respond "Fahrenheit or Celsius?" hahaha

Does anyone know the timings for the MMI? For example, how many minutes do we get to read the prompt before going into the room? How many minutes do we have to talk? At how many minutes' mark will the interview ask a follow-up question? Thank you!!

Yep Weiskotten Hall.

How did the exam go?
Just kidding.

How has your first few weeks been in Medical school? is there anything different/special about Upstate that you've noticed compared to other schools?

Upstate puts a massive amount of effort into creating a collaborative and friendly atmosphere. Everyone is ridiculously helpful and enthusiastic and I never got a single bad vibe from anyone. There are like a bazillion directors of different student affairs who try to make your experience as amazing as possible.

At some other schools I interviewed at, I didn't get that vibe. It just seemed like business as usual.

The only thing I don't like is the area is kind of dull lol. But I'm from NYC and so it was a major downsizing for me.

Whoa, you ain't talking for 6-8 minutes straight, man. It's a 6 minute conversation, haha.
Wasn't sure if they were going to ping pong with us. Some schools apparently stare at you and contribute nothing to the overall conversation.
