2015-2016 University of Louisville Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just got an email from the ULSOM Trover Program asking to fill out their application. Is this fax only ? How long does it take to hear back from them?
Thanks

I faxed mine in yesterday. I also emailed Dr. Crump another copy today just in case the fax didn't go through. Not sure how long it'll take though.

My interview with the Trover campus is before my interview with the Louisville campus.. is this odd?

Thanks

Nope, pretty standard I think. This was how it was for me both last year and this year.
Can you give me a little insight on the interview? My schedule for the day was sent today and it's a gauntlet... 3 straight interviews in 45 minutes

Thanks !

Yeah just replied to your PM. Last year I had 6 interviews. This year I only had 4. They definitely move you around a lot, but all of the interviewers were great to talk with. It's certainly an impressive program out there. Hard to find any real downsides (assuming you like Rural).

Shouldn't there be some more movement today?? Good luck to those still waiting!

Question:

I'm interviewing the 14th, there is an ADCOM meeting the 26th, will my group of interviewees be discussed ? When should I expect to hear something ?
Thanks

Has anyone heard anything from the background check people?

I interviewed in the beginning of December and was told the committee wouldn't be meeting again until January due to Christmas break. Is the first committee meeting this month on the 26th or will there be one earlier?

They meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.

I didn't get a decision until the second time they met

I didn't get a decision until the second or third time they met. I remember i found out like a month after my interview. Be patient! I know the wait sucks but you'll get it!

Has anyone heard anything from the background check people?

I received my request for a background check on Friday (1/8/16). Did it that same day and received a message stating to expect it to take 3-5 business days unless they run into some problems and require more time.

Have any OOS heard anything from UofL? I applied early September and have heard nothing. Was hoping for a II since I grew up 10 minutes from this school on the Indiana side.

I have some OOS friends that attend UofL for undergrad that have recently interviewed or will interview next week. It seems as though they were offered interviews after a lot of IS students, so hang in there. I hope you hear something soon!

for you, was "no decision email" same as the "potential waitlist consideration" email?

I don't think they are the same. From my understanding "no decision" means they are holding on to your application to compare you to more people before making a decision on you or they just quite simply haven't made it to your file. The latter being the most likely.

BTW, judging by your name we'd be great friends Lol

Oh I cannot exactly put my finger on it but there is just something, just something that hints to me that we certainly would be great friends. HAHAHAHA 😀 I can be the cat to your cat lady!! :highfive:

I'm going to the preorientation even though I'm certainly attending UofL. Just want to get as much exposure as I can before starting in August.

Just received an II this weekend, to both Trover campus and Main. I assume you have to be accepted to Main campus before acceptance to Trover.

I have a feeling it might be more to feel me out before I improve for next year. IS, MCAT 501, GPA 3.55. I have a lot of EC's, shadowing, research, etc. I'm optimistically un-potimistic, especially after reading the responses in this thread.

I wouldn't be so sure about the "unoptimistic" part. I didn't interview until February 4th last year and I got in. Granted, they told us at my interview that it was likely for a waitlist spot. Still, there is a lot of movement generally and that may not be the case this year. If they are offering you an interview it is still very possible to be accepted - of that I'm 100% sure.

Released my CBC report a few days ago but didn't receive any confirmation from UL. Did anyone get a receipt from the school?

That's true. Either way, I'm going to make sure I do everything I can to be prepared. I usually have good interview skills, so I'm hoping for the best! I loved UofL when I visited there over the summer. Friendliest medical school I've been to.

If you got an II that means you have a shot at an acceptance. Good luck!

Same and no I haven't received any sort of conformation. Im guessing we won't hear anything unless something on the CBC bothers them or something doesn't get sent in.

This may seem a bit trivial but I don't wanna be the guy standing out like a construction worker in an orange vest. What is the dress code for pre-orientation? Anybody wants to share what they're gonna wear?

I was just gonna wear jeans and a nice sweater or something. It sounds pretty casual so I can't imagine why we have to wear dress pants/a suit. But then again I may be wrong....

That's what i was thinking, i just wanted to make sure

Criminal background check completed (finally)!

If you log back into applicationstation, you can sign off on an immediate release of the report if you're not going to refute their findings.

Has anyone heard any rumblings about how much movement wait list applicants typically get here? I know some schools typically have more or less movement than others. I loved this school so I'm trying to remain optimistic but I also don't want to get my hopes up too high

Citing previous year's threads and personal experience (accepted from OOS top 1/3), you can pretty safely bet that the top third of both IS and OOS waitlists will be exhausted. Up until a couple years ago this was 100% true, but the trends have started to change a little bit. In general, it seems the OOS waitlist seems to move a little more than IS, but that is probably due to there being less people on each 3rd. That's probably the best I can tell you without going back and looking at those threads. If you have any questions or wanna ask how long it took for me to hear then message me. I have some advice I can offer.

So, out of 20 or so schools, I have been accepted at one. My MCAT is the major drawback. First and only mcat (new exam). I got invited to complete a post-bac at a relatively good school. Should I decline my one and only acceptance in hopes of doing better in the mcat this year (2016) and re-applying? Thanks

I would personally accept the offer. If you have been expressly rejected from the other schools already, and KNOW you don't want to attend the school you were accepted to, then perhaps go ahead and decline the offer and try again next year. We really need more information here, though. Are you a resident of the state where you were accepted? Just how bad is your MCAT score compared to the rest of your application? Are YOU willing to wait another year (or two) to begin school?
