2015-2016 University of Maryland Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did you guys get phone calls? or did you hear back through emails?

I found out just through regular mail. I interviewed early December.
How early did you interview? I had an interview 12/2 and haven't heard back. I've been waiting to contact the admissions office because I know the holidays and snow delayed a lot of things.
Not sure if I should even contact the office or just wait, but I'm a bit concerned that the letter got lost in the mail.

They initially tell everyone to expect something in four to six weeks after the interview. It took them about eighthish weeks before I heard back. You can check if you want as ample time has passed though.

Does Maryland tend to give out their OOS interviews later on in the cycle, or is it interspersed with the IS interviews throughout? Just wondering I should bother holding out any hope for this school. OOS LizzyM 76.

I was OOS and interviewed in November along with a number of OOS'ers (and IS'ers, of course). I can't guarantee anything, but I think OOS'ers are pretty well spread out throughout the interview season

We're in the same boat. OOS LizzyM 74.

What's the pre-interview hold? Is it an email they sent out, or is it on the app status? I don't think I've gotten anything like that.

Anyone know how long it takes for the admissions office to send a letter of confirmation back once you've sent in your seat reservation form?

I got a letter from Dr. Foxwell ~1 week after I sent it in (no other notification, no change in portal)

Accepted to MD/MS, interviewed 12/2. Best of luck to the rest of you guys still waiting!!

Accepted! Interviewed 12/7. OOS but Baltimore is my hometown.

Does anyone know or have the match lists for Maryland ???

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile app

I've had the same question and no one seems to know. There definitely haven't been any IIs in a while. May be time to bite the bullet and call and ask.

Wait Listed 🙁. Interviewed early January, In State. Thought I had really good interviews but my MCAT score is lower than the average.

Keep your chin up I got put on the WL couple of years ago. Got off the WL in june and so did a few of my classmates. It's not over till they give you a hard no!

Can any current OOS students comment on what it was like to (1) move to Baltimore and (2) join a class that is made up primarily of Maryland residents? UMD is probably my top choice right now but there's a slight hesitation about being the odd man out in terms of familiarity with the area/school. =) Thanks!

Just watch "The Wire" and you'll be fine.

Just curious, how much lower was your MCAT compared to the average (33)? I would think your MCAT wouldnt be a problem if its a few points lower.

Im going to DM you. One second.

Looking at last years thread not many March interviewees were accepted. Are most spots taken now? Do late interviews automatically mean lower wait list spots compared to a wait list earlier the cycle?
