When did TMDSAS send out your application? Mine was submitted on 7/2 and transmitted 7/28, so I know I am a little late or right at the peak when almost everyone submitted.

I was complete 6/7 and submitted 6/24! So the date makes a difference but I also think the new mcat has been a factor as well. And thank you! 🙂

Right on. Well that does give some insight into where they might be as far as submission dates are concerned. Thanks for the info
 
So Houston is being slow for people aside from myself. I have gotten under review emails with every other school in Texas (except Dell, just did their secondary), except for Houston, who has not said a single word regarding my app.

Yup. I actually called them the other day. Said there is "lots of lag time" between TMDSAS releasing the application and their office receiving it. Not sure how long it'll actually take. I was transmitted towards the end of July.
 
I mean there's always the chance that you weren't invited too...🙁 Not trying to be negative but I don't think anything says just because you got an interview at every school in TX so far you will continue doing so.

edit; I haven't heard from Houston either and I heard from other TX schools already so yeah I'm just gonna wait it out

I am well aware of the possibility that they will not interview me. It's more that they haven't even put my app under review, based on my email correspondence. I dont want to sound like I'm bragging and I hope I didn't come off that way. I was mostly just confused.

Houston admits people interviewed long after Nov 15th while there is a good chance one won't be admitted to Southwestern if they don't finish by Nov 15th based on their historical approach. So the review process at the two schools is not that similar.

What types of questions should I expect in the interview? As an OOS?

You could've just said something along the lines of "Every other Texas school has confirmed that they have received my app, but I haven't heard a word from Houston, and I submitted my app on x date. I've called the admissions office and they said x."

But instead, you throw this in for good measure, Which is why I really don't believe you.

Yeah I did sound way too pretentious. Sorry about that. I edited my posts a bit. My goal was not to brag and I definitely came across that way.

I definitely agree with Cookie04 to be prepared for those. As an OOS applicant, I was asked those questions at just about every Texas interview I had. I was also asked questions about cultural differences between Texas and my region of the country, as well as why I would see myself wanting to practice in Texas versus any other place in the country. Other than that, my interviews were very conversational and not the normal ask a question, answer a question format.
 
Does anyone know if UTH goes back through applications that were submitted earlier but didn't receive an interview on first look? Like do they do a second sweep of say people that submitted in May or June but haven't received an interview? I just want to know if not getting an interview at this point means my chances are pretty slim or close to none.

I just got an interview here today and I submitted in May, so they definitely go back and re-review applications. Hang in there 🙂

I got the "application received" email from Houston the last week of June. I just got an interview two weeks ago. One of the students here told me that this my session today is like the third or fourth one. So you still have time. Also, Houston does not give out many prematches, so don't worry too much about getting an interview late.
 
Finally received that email! Does that mean that they're actually looking at it? Or that it's finally marked complete?

I doubt they're actually physically looking at it right now, but they might have a stack of applications that they're starting to look over. And we might be within that stack, but who knows. There's so much randomness and uncertainty in this process that it's hard to say for sure what's going on.

Transmitted 9/29, I'm so late but I hope to get some activity from this school. Houston is a cool city
 
Does anyone know if acceptances go out by phone calls or emails?

UTH doesn't hae a portal you can check status on does it?
 
help I can't log into my portal for some reason and it keeps saying "error" when I say forget password and I'm definitely entering my own TMDSAS ID - Can someone confirm that check in is at 7:30? I have that in my mind but not written down anywhere and I have it tomorrow and wanna make sure

Your Interview Day will begin with Check In at 7:30am in the Medical School Building (6431 Fannin Street).

This same exact thing happened to me the morning of my interview. If you try to log in too many times it temporarily locks you out of your account, but if you wait 15-20 minutes it will let you back in. And yes, check in for my interview day began at 7:30.
 
I'm asking this question again, but this time I checked the interview dates for possible conflicts, etc. BUT, do any of you have experience with sending ITA letters to UT Houston (or other TX schools, for that matter)? I just got back from Houston last night, and will be headed down south again in 3 weeks for a Thursday interview at another school. 10-hour drives are almost as long as they sound, and I'd like to be able to see if I could make the most out of my time while I'm there.

Not trying to sound like I think I deserve an interview here or anything, just wondering if anyone has any advice one way or another. Thanks!

I'd say it doesn't hurt to try but I know Houston doesn't accept pre interview updates so I feel like they wouldn't be receptive to ITAs

Got it. Would I go through TMDSAS, or just directly send an email to the admissions office?

If it's possible to go through TMDSAS do that but I'd just email the admissions office cuz I don't get how "going through TMDSAS" really entails. Sounds confusing haha

I'm with you there - thanks for your help! I'm not sure which school's thread I was reading, but someone mentioned needing to send any pre-interview updates through TMDSAS or something like that.

That was specific to UTHSCSA. I emailed the associate dean of admissions to ask them how to send in letters of interest. He responded by telling me to send it to TMDSAS . Idk how UTH works though so I would just email and ask the admissions office.
