There was a Dec 4, dec 11 and dec 16. I didnt look in January, but I know that the last interview date is Jan 8 per the admissions office. They have a backup date later in January if necessary

Sweet! Thanks for the info. There is still hope for me! Good luck in your interview.

Does anyone know if they are closed or open interviews?
Open interviews. I don't know if they see your metrics or not, but they at least should have read your personal statement, essays, and extracurricular activities.

One interviewer has everything - GPA, MCAT, resume, personal statement, etc... The whole entire application printed out on paper. The other one has everything on your app EXCEPT your GPA and MCAT.

Is there a current student completing the four year MD/MPH dual degree that could PM me? I have a few questions about the program. Thanks!

Could someone please post the name of the restaurant where the social is? My account has locked me out of the portal so I can't check the invite. I know it's in Rice Village.

Does anyone know if Houston sends out a second round of pre match offers and if so, around when? Thanks

I wrote one 10 days ago - still holding hope. I sent to Dr. McNeese (who I met personally with last year at Re-app seminar) and Dr. McDowelle (the new Director of Admissions). Got acknowledgement that Dr. McDowelle read my letter but not from Dr. McNeese.

I spoke about my MCAT improvements, my continued clinical experience (I did an Observership program at UTHealth this past summer) as well as my current research work. I also included attributes from my personal statement that I felt embodied their Mission and Vision.

II today!!!! Options were Dec 11th and Dec 16th. :cat:

Been complete here 7/28 hoping to get some love from UTH!

Seems like many Texas schools are definitely turning their wheels now to people with stats like mine! I know my luck sure has changed this last few weeks. Good luck to you!!

Still no II here :/

I received one many years ago when I applied with lower stats, so it's a little bit disconcerting.

Keep in mind with Dell and UTRGV actively recruiting for their classes, there will continue to be lots of movement for IIs leading up to Jan. I know UTH has 2 dates in Jan as well as a makeup day on 15th.

minimd
May I ask you for your stats? Still hoping for some action from many TX schools

Is anyone on here interview on 12/16? I will be at the interview social on 12/15 too!

This is a subjective q but...... Is it a large group of students per interview day?

Utmb seemed pretty large and A&M seemed smaller?

A&M splits their interviews into two locations.

Worth it to send a letter of interest pre-interview here at this point? Is there only the 1 date in Jan left?

There is a post (8/18/15) a while back that says that the remaining dates are the 8th, 13th, and 15th. The 13th and 15th are back ups.

Just got off the phone with the Admissions Office. Looks like they're interviewing early-to-mid January and you can be invited sometimes a day before the interview.
They said they will send some invites sometime before 23rd so good luck everyone. UTH is my dream school and I would really love an II here!

Same! I received an II here during my first cycle many years ago, so I had hoped that I would be re-invited with a stronger application but no luck yet. I saw you post your stats in another thread and I'm absolutely flabbergasted that you ended up as a re-applicant. Your GPA and MCAT are phenomenal. Looks like we're in the same boat. I'm rooting for you man!

My first application was a bit chaotic. Not only did I transmit late, I took August MCAT and bombed it (got a 26). I knew then there that my chances were over. It was also a time of emotional turmoil for me as events happened in my personal life that I never saw them coming.

But I stayed persistent on my goal. Stayed on track to graduate and retook the MCAT last Nov and improved significantly. I'm happy that I never gave up. A lot of my colleagues were actually recommending me to start applying to PhD or Masters programs but I stayed true to instinct.

I've noticed your story on UTMB thread and you've also been a hardworking individual. Don't be discouraged if you didn't pre-match. I'm sure you're on the top list of students that will Match. The entire admissions process is really random sometimes and there's really no rhyme or reason as to why someone prematched or didn't prematch. I used to think that early interviews gave you a solid chance of prematching but after speaking with a few students, that may not be the case.

One positive thing though - if we are invited to interview at UTH, we stand a good chance of matching because UTH selects a significant majority of their class through match.

Merry Christmas !!

@texan2414 @txMed7 That's really crazy that you guys had to reapply! I am rooting for you both! Did you guys apply to TCOM as well or just MD previous cycles and this cycle? And thank you or the UH interview info!

My first application I applied to all schools, including TCOM. Unfortunately, I didn't get any favorable response with a 26 MCAT, despite having a 3.97 GPA.

Your story is an amazing one. If you get in this cycle, you should right a book about perseverance... hahaha 🙂

Does anyone know about the timeline for when scholarships are sent out? Is it after pre-match?

Edit: after looking at previous years, it seems like most students hear later in the game..as late as june and also during the retreat that precedes the first term. Does this sound right?

Cool! didnt think they were still sending out pre-matches this close to the end of the year
I was surprised too. My guess is that they re-review some applications later on and decide if they want to extend a pre-match offer to them, which would explain why I didn't pre-match on Nov 15th seeing that I interviewed early.

Hey all! Current MS1 here. I just wanted to post the new UTH Class of 2020 FB page for Accepted Students. Feel free to join and ask questions/get more info on our great school! Also, feel free to ask me or the other MS1's on this thread if you have any questions about UTH! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1516774865317694/
