Has anyone pre-II that's been placed on hold tried sending letters of interest? Anybody know if that will be looked upon negatively?
I'm not sure if this is still relevant to you, but I sent in an update a couple weeks back and I received a II invite yesterday (after being placed on the pre-II hold since August).

Did you notice whether your status went from hold to under review before that? Congrats on the interview!

Placed on alternate list 10/27. Also thought my interviews went very well so not exactly thrilled, but kind of expected it since they interview so many (presumably great) applicants.

Congrats to those accepted and best of luck to everyone!

When did you interview? 🙂

Has there been any example where you get reviewed and then placed on hold for re-review at a later time and then get rejected?

Yes, I believe most of the rejections that took place earlier this month were from people who were put on hold and then got rejected.

Thanks so much! I didn't notice a change in status because I stopped checking the portal because the hold status made me sad. However, people I know recently had a status change from on hold to under review.

I wanted to check with a GW admission admin about a myth, she just informed me that "Being placed on hold for re-review simply means the committee has not made a final decision on an application. Applications are reviewed many times before a final decision is made and almost all applicants are placed on hold for some period of time."

Although I knew those of us still waiting, we will be attending a webinar tomorrow! CONGRATS to those who are ACCEPTED 😉

Can someone ask how long they expect it will take to hear back after an interview regarding a decision? I know they got backed up last year around this time and was unable to get into the webinar due to my slow reading : P

Sure , I will ask!

What do you mean by slow reading?

If you have any more questions about the interview day, let me know.

So how many interviews did you have and what kind of questions did they ask? Were there any ethical questions? What was your impression of the school? Thanks!

The interview was very conversational. 2 interviews, 1 with a faculty and 1 with a current medical student- each about 25 minutes. They basically asked standard questions: Why medicine, why GW, what have you done to prepare for medical school, what characteristics have you gained to prepare that make you qualified to be a doctor etc. Interviews are closed file so they don't have access to your application.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Hope you get accepted!

Today, I noticed the status changed to "has placed your application on hold for re-review at a later date".

Anybody know what dates were available for interviews?

Unfortunately I have not heard back yet. Interview was 9/23, so almost at the 6 week mark. I'm expecting to hear back anytime now, no stress or anything!

They said, they cannot say for sure! but it would take few weeks at least!

Can you ask what kind of updates are useful for those on hold? Short ones with just brief descriptions or reiterations of why we want to go there?

She said, they would welcome any updates such as new activities, new updates from your work, if you changed your position, or anything you think is helpful for the committee to be aware of!

For those of you who attended the webinar, did they say anything about those that are on hold for re-review? Had this status since August and was wondering if there was any sort of timeline we could expect to hear back.
