CONGRATS!! Did you receive a CASPer-specific update on portal, and did you get the II via portal? Complete around the same time, same CASPer date, so I'm hopeful...

Thank you! I received the invite via email and checked my portal to see they hadn't posted that they received my Casper scores yet

II this morning!! Complete sometime at the end of July, scheduled to take CASPer in a few weeks! So excited!

Y'all got me refreshing my portal like a madman! Congrats though, you guys are killin it!

II this morning! Complete mid-July, took CASPer on 8/11. SUPER excited to visit this school!

I need to reschedule my caspr test today. Will it hurt my chances if I push it back to September/October? Would it hurt my chances of getting a II? Those are the only dates available

Everything with admissions is "the sooner the better" that being said, if you absolutely can not do it today I don't think it will be the end of the world. I heard they sometimes offer II, before receiving casper results..... they might just be using it to determine any correlation for future student success and then, consider results more in the future.

In case this makes you feel better, I was scheduled to take CASPER tonight, but I just moved into a new place and I don't have Internet yet, so last night I rescheduled it for mid September. I then got to work this morning and there was an II sitting in my inbox!

How hard is it to get a taxi/uber in this area?

Where are you coming from / going to?

Anyhoo - there is no uber, but there are a few cab companies in the area that you can call ahead of time to get where you need to 🙂 Or rent a car ~

Ill be landing in Westchester airport and then traveling a little bit south (elmsford) for my living arrangements that night. Then going up to NYMC for my interview the next morning.

Yes I saw that.

PSA: ALL COUNTY "DEALS" ARE STILL MORE EXPENSIVE THAN METRO TAXI SERVICE! BY $10 FROM AIRPORT TO CAMPUS!!

How I know? Cause I just called metro 😀

..... that's criminal haha, taking advantage of the interviewees.

Anyone hear if any local hotels have actual, worthwhile deals?

lolol I missed my CASPer test ... I'm terrible ...

Had to reschedule to 9/18. sigh ..........

I dunno if it's just me but after reading through people's previous experiences with CASPer I feel like i did HORRIBLY. I left maybe 5/36 questions empty, and answered approximately 6/36 of those prompts with 1 sentence. I was short on time for every prompt.

I had difficulty formulating a coherent answer that addressed both sides of the argument and provided a clear explanation for my choice with the time we were given. The personal experience prompts were especially difficult because we had to recall events that could have occurred many years ago. Speaking to friends who took CASPer last year, it seems like those prompts are something they added recently.

Regardless of everyone saying that the test is common sense and that you can't practice for it, I believe that you most definitely can practice for this exam. If I would have known what I do now before taking the exam, I would have dedicated at least 2 weeks to prewriting personal experiences and practicing my time management. I'd be surprised if I scored anywhere above a 60 percentile.

However, hopefully I didn't do as poorly as I think I did and congrats to everyone that got IIs!!!

I would also spend 3 hours a day playing those speed typing games and disable my backspace key so I have no choice of correcting and to keep on pushing forward

dont worry about CASPer guys. I left many sentences mid-sentence. I'm a genius. Who else decides to add a sentence to a response with 7 seconds left. one of my last sentences for test was something like "He shuld nott blaurwig..." because I ran out of time. They probably think I'm really stupid

Ended up taking Casper today, lets just say it could have gone better

just a wild guess though. I think the effect of CASPer is minimal on your evaluation, if any. I saw a video on a presentation where the associate dean of admissions from NYMC presented the CASPer data they collected from last cycle. It was uploaded by the company that created CASPer. It seems like NYMC make people take it, because they are looking for new ways to evaluate applications or/and the company that made CASPer paid them to test it out. It definitely feel like they're still analyzing using this method. but what do I know, I can't seem to type 'responsibilities' correctly the first time

Hopefully that's the case. I left many open ended sentences too. Maybe the graders will unconsciously fill in the rest of the sentences with what they want to hear.

In regards to the spelling. Even though they said they wouldn't hold it against us, the perfectionist in me haddddd to spend 15 seconds rewriting "responsibility." Sucks that we couldn't right click the word for a suggestion.

Edit: oh we had trouble with the same word hahaha

same

in retrospect, I probably should've typed in "xxx-xxx-xxxx please call me if elaboration is needed" at the end......of every answer.

Not sure if this is helpful, but my rec letter came in within the first week of August and I was marked complete and under review this Monday (CASPer about 3 weeks ago)

Receipt of my CASPer score is now showing up on the portal (7/26 test) hoping for an II!

Same! I half expected a "on hold" status after that last wave of IIs, but no such thing on my portal, only difference is that the school has recieved CASPer. Hoping for the best!

My CASPer was received about a month ago, but no news for me yet. Since they just sent a decent sized II batch I'm gonna settle in and hope for an II in a couple weeks. Didn't they say you don't need your CASPer in to be considered for an interview anyway?

Yeah, you can get an II without Casper. Some of us may be on Hold already, but NYMC does not post it right away (usually a few weeks after).

According to this thread, people have been recieving IIs before taking CASPer.

My own theory is that they may be using CASPer to evaluate people in certain ways, like my MCAT was a bit unbalanced with a 125 in CARS. Maybe they want to wait and see my CASPer before making a decision? While for others, maybe CASPer doesn't provide much more information than already present?

Who knows... It's only a theory.

In any case, I'm hopefull.

MCAT was also unbalanced, and I got an II prior to taking CASPer

Submitted 7/18, complete 8/2, they marked that they had received my CASPer score from 7/26 today. Still "currently under review".

Just checked my status and placed on hold since 8/18 (never got an email). Complete 7/20 without receipt of Casper taken 8/11.

When do they send out rejections I was complete in July but nothing. I wish they would at least send a rejection so I know lol.

Same here. We are probably on hold. I assume they are sending IIs to the applicants that they feel best match their program. They will probably continue to look back at their hold list as the year progresses, so there is still a chance we will get an II later.

I wouldn't wish for a rejection. I had a friend who didn't interview until the very end of March last cycle and now he's an MS1. Keep the faith.

Edit: Should clarify that interview was with NYMC and he's an MS1 there.
