Anyone here currently in the GSBS master's program and get an II?

Accepted! Got the call late sunday which was about 3 weeks after my interview (late october) i was quite surprised bc they said i'd hear back in 4-6 wks but nonetheless beyond souped! Hope everyone else hears good news lizzy M~65. Can't wait to start

in state or out of state?

Got the phone call on Monday night & couldn't believe it (still hasn't sunk in honestly). Dean Heinrich was so kind and made me feel truly welcomed. For those who have been accepted/got the email, I'm confused about the portal. How do we know our username and password to register? I've tried a combination of my AAMC ID and email but it keeps saying not found...?

Edit: theres literally a button that says register on the bottom and I didn't see it. Good luck to everyone else applying!

I'm in the GSBS program and haven't heard anything. I was complete mid July. I have the GPA and MCAT requirements as well for the guaranteed interview. I spoke to Dr. Garrett about it, and he told me they will interview me... just when they see fit. So there's a good chance I get one of the last interviews in February. Speaking to GSBS students who applied last year, nearly all of them interviewed after Christmas. That may just be the way NJMS sets up interviews for GSBS students. GSBS student eligible for the interview are interviewed later on in the cycle.

Congrats! When did you interview!?

Ah I see that's reassuring. I'm assuming you took the old mcat? Do you have any idea what the "new" 30 is? I'm only have 18 credits finished so far, so I'll be done with the program by the end of December. Hopefully that's not too late for an II. Good luck.

I took the new MCAT. Dr. Garrett told me they set the bar at a 510, but he has heard it possibly being a 512, but that's as highest as they'll go in terms of MCAT requirement for the GSBS interview. Good luck to you too buddy!

I interviewed late september. I read on here earlier that they send out a couple phone calls every night, but the thread's been pretty quiet and its cutting pretty close to 8 weeks for me

Just about 9 weeks for me, interviewed mid/late September.. this wait is agonizing

hi, what is GSBS program?

hi, what is GSBS program?

Hey, the GSBS program is basically NJMS' SMP. You take medical school courses with the 1st years, and other courses that cover topics you'd learn in medical school. If you have a 3.5 GPA and a certain MCAT (used to be 30), you would automatically be granted an interview with the NJMS Admission committee.

Oh sweet! that sounds like an awesome deal! can you still apply to other schools? or are you limited to only NJMS?

Has anyone else heard back? I interviewed October 19th. Anyone else interview that day?

Don't worry no news is good news I think they are just getting to the people who interviewed around that time. I heard of people waiting over 7 weeks before getting acceptances. I know I heard back last week and I interviewed the 21st of Oct.

Is there any sort of order in which they go through post interview decisions? Seems like some people hear back within 3-4 weeks, while others are waiting 8+ weeks without an answer.

Starting to wonder that too.. it's the 8th week for me :/

So far just on this page alone there are two people who interviewed Oct 21st and got accepted. I hope there isn't an order to acceptances. I hope its just Dean Heinrich pulling an accepted student out of a hat and calling haha.

You can certainly apply to other schools, but only NJMS will guarantee an interview if you meet the requirement. That's same for all SMPs. But getting an interview does not mean acceptance, obviously. Every year, there's handful of students that did SMP though.

Hey did you do the SMP too?

No, but I have many friends who did it, so I am very aware of the process for them. I am a 3rd year student at NJMS. If you guys have any questions, feel free to shoot me a message.

Unrelated question. Does this school give admitted students iPads?

Nah you might be thinking of RWJMS, they give all first years iPads and then you swap that one out for a smaller one when you begin your rotations

Do you guys know on average how long it takes for them to get back to you regarding admissions decision post interview? Also how receptive are they to update notes/letters of intent?

I emailed them two days ago about sending an update and they were very receptive to it!

Anyone know what phone number Dean Heinrich uses to call for acceptances? I've been getting so many random phone calls recently and it gets my hopes up very time. Also, have they started sending out post-interview rejections yet?

It's an unknown number.

What do you mean by they were really receptive?

And pardon my confusion, i just want to be clear - you wanted to send them an update?

you were not asking for them to send you an update right?

Interviewed here yesterday. It was a bit strange not having a whole day of presentations and whatnot, but I kind of appreciated it because those things that grown to be fairly redundant. I liked the school a lot - Newark would be a very interesting place to learn medicine.

How many students get off of the alternate list to get accepted? Is there any info on that in previous years posts

I'm sure people have been waitlisted but not anybody I know of yet. All the best to people on the waitlist though. I've heard the alternate/waitlists don't move a whole lot.

Just FYI, they mentioned yesterday that they are behind on reviewing apps right now.
Its really weird because some people interviewed on October 17th got an acceptance on Sunday while other interviewed October 21st and received an acceptance 2 weeks ago. I don't see any order to how they are doing it. Its good to know they are behind tho.

They said it is largely determined by how fast your interviewer fills out their evaluation of you. Some might turn it in immediately after you leave while others might take a couple of weeks.

Oh damn, well that puts me at way more ease now! Thanks a lot for the info man!
