2016-2017 University of Pittsburgh Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From US News & WR. My guess is that it includes acceptances from the WL.
The following shows the raw numbers for IS and OOS.

Make sure to refer to the interviewer by their first name to establish dominance. Even better, use pet names such as "sport" and "sweetheart" to address male and female interviewers, respectively.

Hey! OOS and got my II about a week ago. NERVOUS AF if anyone has any Pitt specific interview tips please post ex. need to knows, what was the day like, how to impress your interviewers ect... ( I know there are some already on here but I'm hoping for a more in depth response)

Congrats! No curveballs thrown at all.
The student interview is closed file so all they basically want you to do is paint a picture of yourself both academically and personally.
Faculty interview is about your general background and interest in medicine, no surprises and in general super laid back.
Just be organized and clear about what you've accomplished, what you want them to know in terms of a well rounded picture of who you are and what you've done. Maybe try to balance discussing your clinical exposure, research, academics, volunteering, and extracurriculars pretty evenly throughout the conversation, and then sum up very, very briefly each of those five points when asked if there's anything else you wanted to share. Be interested and engaged in whatever they tell you, and at least act interested and ask intelligent questions on the tour, they take impressions from that into account as well from what I hear. The team based learning is interesting but isn't something you can really prepare for in my opinion. Prepare a couple of lightly researched, intelligent questions to ask the people you meet about the school. All in all though they try to keep the pressure down and you have little to be nervous about or intimidated by; they like the paper you, now just be yourself and bring the paper to life. Best of luck!

Got an email at 9AM today right on the dot. Rejected =( . Secondary was submitted early August, 77 LizzyM. Best of luck to the rest of you still in the race!

+3, 74, mid-August, OOS. Honestly just happy to have some news after a completely silent September. Good luck y'all!

edit: Blow softened after an II from a state school today. What a weird month September has been!

You guys make me so nervous. If you got rejected, I am sure I will be next with my stats. I guess those completed in September will be next 😱. This whole process is so unpredictable. Good luck with the rest of the application cycle.

I'd have to say that pitt, unlike other top schools, does not seem to be all about the stats. I have seen a ton of people rejected that had much better stats that I but I somehow still got an II. They must be looking for certain kinds of applicants so keep up the hope!

Aw your tour guide should take you through the hospital shortcut to get back up the hill to the med school. That's no fun in a suit (and heels for girls!)

They blew up the bridge from falk to presby unfortunately 🙁
I think the tour still has you go thru montefiore and up but its still alot of walking + the bridges have a slope lol

I'm just glad that I wasn't the only one, best of luck to the rest of you all. And to those who received II's, congratulations and best of luck!

Rejected here too 🙁 Hearing from all of you makes me feel less alone in my death sentence, though. Complete mid-august

Got the rejection walking out of an interview, what a buzzkill! Oh well, good luck guys!!

Yeah I know the Falk connection is gone, I meant the walk through Kaufman -> Monte -> Presby. Still way better than the hill!
