2016-2017 University of Washington Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I received that as well without acceptance yet. I think it goes to everyone

Nope. I interviewed back in November and never got this. I have yet to get it as I have not been accepted to any MD schools.

Just interviewed this last week for the Spokane cohort, and a few days later I received an email from AMCAS asking to do a background check. It didn't say for which school, but based on my current applications I am assuming it is UW. In the email, it said the background check is done on students who are either waitlisted or conditionally accepted. Do you think this means decisions have already been made, and has anyone received a similar email.?

Is this what it looked like?
As you were notified in the AMCAS application, you have applied to at least one medical school that is participating in the AMCAS-facilitated Criminal Background Check Service, through which Certiphi Screening, Inc. (a Vertical Screen(R) Company) will procure a background report on applicants with certain types of admission actions.

Background checks will begin after January 1 for all conditionally accepted applicants, except for Early Decision Program (EDP) applicants. If you were conditionally accepted under the Early Decision Program, your background check will begin immediately upon your conditional acceptance.

Oh I received this one a while ago, prior to my interview at UW.

Does your portal change after you get a decision? Do you get an extra column or do you only get new updates under communications? Is there a point to check the portal every so often?

You get a new tab - but there is no real point since the call every person, and continue to call under they get through (if accepted)

Nov and Dec SUCs came out the Mon of 11/21 and 12/19. Acceptance calls should go out this week, with SUC the following Mon.

Le sigh. I just know I'm gonna be SUC'ed all the way through and rejected at the last meeting.

Anybody get an acceptance call who interviewed in Seattle? Been no reports of acceptances since November, odd.

I believe someone reported a SUC email when they interviewed 12/9.
Someone a few posts up mentioned about an excom meeting this morning. Maybe we should be hearing something soon.

*slowly gnawing at my nails*

I swear if 5th Avenue Theater calls me one more time...

I'll probably just end up going to their next production.
It'll be at least a few hours you are distracted from thinking about getting an acceptance call.

Or: they'll call during the show, my phone will go off in the audience, everyone in attendance will hate me, the dean of admissions will also happen to be there and recognize me as the person they were going to accept, I end up missing the call while rushing up the aisle, she places a call during intermission to my ExCom member telling him the deal is off, and they never call back leaving me in SUC limbo until 2040

Well, I'll happily be your therapist, circa 10 years from now, and help you get through the emotional turmoil caused to you by the 5th Avenue Theater and admissions dean that happens to be following you around, waiting and watching your every move... 😉

I think we'd be friends

Hey! Don't you feed my paranoid delusions! They don't need any help. Isn't that right, Clyde? You don't need any help, do you Clyde?

What time and day do rejection/acceptance decisions typically go out to applicants for the Seattle campus?

I feel like only Spokane applicants have been hearing back this week. Seattle might hear back next week?

Technically they are two separate groups of excom members so they could both meet this week! That being said, the Seattle crew has been laying really low lately. Last year I know people heard back during the days of like 1/26-1/29 (acceptances, then reject and SUC), but they seem to be following a slightly different schedule this year.

Anybody get ExCom news?

I've been going bald since late November myself...does Hair Club have a special medical student rate?

I probably won't need a special medical student rate considering the fact that I will be completely bald by March (which is when I expect to hear back about my application)

Did anyone else's EXCOM explicitly say that you probably wouldn't hear anything till March? Cause mine did, and I was just hoping they said that to everyone...Maybe I should actually be listening to this statement and stop obsessing (not that I would really be able to do this).

Nah both this year and last year, my excom member never explicitly said anything about March. I just assumed to hear back on March since that is when most people are admitted.
