No I got in directly.

I do not know. But sending in a letter of interest after an interview doesn't hurt. At the very least send a thank you letter.
the portal only allows us to send in resume/CV, update letter, and transcript. where should the letter of interest be sent to? just the admissions email?

I am not sure...then do an update letter if you have something worth discussing and expressing interest in the same letter. You can do the same in a thank you letter if you have not done so already.

I am interviewing in January. I am wondering if it is worthwhile to send an update letter about a job I started a couple months ago, or if I should just plan to talk about it in the interview?

Personally, I would talk about it in the interview. That way you can relay your emotions and personality regarding the matter. Your enthusiasm can show through.
I say this because you already have the interview...I hope you do well!

I agree with this! I talked about getting a new job! My interviewer was looking for it as I was talking about it but I told her I didn't update my app yet. She was very interested in learning more about it. I guess it worked out well for me becuase I got accepted! 🙂

Hey everyone!
I know that Drexel is P/F for the preclinical years but is it truly P/F or is there also internal ranking? I csn't find this info on the website anywhere!

I'm pretty sure that every medical a school does internal rankings. That's how they determine who get's into the honors society, etc.

P/F with internal ranking. Honors for clinical years that bear more weight for AOA than preclinical, but they still matter.

Thank you both. I will talk about it in the interview and I think my passion for my work will show through. Plus it is fairly unique so hopefully it will help me stand out.

does anyone know where we can send a letter of interest, or if it helps whatsoever? trying to get out of this deferral list

Yep!! Actually I asked Kareem in the email if he could give me their emails and he did! So I sent it directly to them.

Kareem is the best!

... omg, I should have read this thread more carefully before emailing Kareem. I addressed him as "Ms." in my initial email to ask if I could be put on the email list to move up my interview when a spot opened up. 😱

Called Kareem by his first name in my subsequent replies... but hoping my mistake won't affect my interview decision (lol haven't even had my interview yet *neurotic*) :dead:

Kareem is the man!

I also interviewed in the am session!
Oh lol that's funny. Really hope to hear back from my first interivew really soon. It's exciting to know that people that interviewed 1-2 days before us have heard back.

Did anybody submit an update and not get an email back? I updated them 2 times and neither time they confirmed that they received it (one of them was am email problem I was having before).

how did you update them 2 times? i thought you can only add only one update letter through the portal?

I did the portal update for the update that related to my activities. But I had a problem with the email that was in AMCAS and it stopped working after I sent out secondaries. I sent them an email explaining what happened and asked to make sure that they have to new email on file but they never responded. I may call and see. I was complete around 8/8 so its likely they havent reviewed me yet but figured its better safe than sorry.

Super dumb question, but is post-II deferral the same thing as waitlist, or is it deferring you to the entering class for the following year?
I think they are different. Waitlist people will be on the waitlist until a spot opens up. Defferal means that your app will continue to be evaluated until the adcoms make a decision!

Ah okay, got it! Was confused since they used the same term for two different things

Anyone who has already interviewed care to share any information about the interview day? Interview date 1/8 🙂

Interview was extremely relaxed and not stressful at all. Just be yourself. I think they're truly looking for genuine people. The hardest question I got was probably "how do you handle stress" and it was hard to answer because I never actually thought about it before. Either way I was genuine and answered truthfully. You will have a student interview which is literally just lunch with a student and other interviewees in your group. You'll have the tour as well. Aside from the interview you'll have to write an essay on an ethical-like question at the end. I had a great time at the interview and was lucky enough to be able to see medical students work on the cadaver at the anatomy lab for the first time!! It was amazing. Overall, just be your amazing self, ask questions, and have fun! Its honestly really low-stress, especially if your interviewer is as sweet as mine was.

I had a different experience from the poster above me. My interviewer was 10 min late, and then the interview itself was an hour instead of the allotted 30 minutes. By the time I was done I couldn't find any of the other interviewees because they had already left to wander around the school. The ethics essay was very easy, so don't stress about that.

For me, the interview was very stressful. They asked me a lot of hypothetical answers, and questioned me about healthcare problems. They asked me about all of the problems the physicians I shadowed had, and then asked how they fixed them. I guess it just depends who the interviewer you get is. Hopefully yours is on time! Good luck!

To add to what was said before, it was a very low stress day. You might be worried about the group student interview, but mine was mostly a tour/we ate lunch together, so the student was talking most of the time and asked us questions like where were we from...what do we like to do for fun... veryyyyy low stress. One thing not mentioned is that they took us into the anatomy lab and handed us a bunch of organs (we had gloves on) but it was a little weird in our suits (a piece of tissue fell onto my foot and I was like !!!!!!!)...interviews are split into two groups morning and afternoon. I had a lot of research on my application and my interviewer kept asking me why I wasn't doing MD/PHD... I gave her/him solid answers and then she/he would ask me again two minutes later... don't really know how I was accepted lol
Wow thank you all so much! It never ceases to amaze me what nice people I come across on this forum. Best of luck to you all!

And this is why you’re allowed to decline to touch anything and just observe LOL (I did when I interviewed, I was accepted)

Is it really bad I have a good idea who this was just by reading this description?

Everyone, a majority of the faculity isn’t like this and as unfortunate as this was of an experience, you should NOT expect to encounter something like this.

Ugh do they normally reject the people they interview? I can def feel the R.

Quick question, may have already been asked, and if so, I apologize. If my app says "Your application is ready", does this mean that my app hasn't even been reviewed yet? Complete 7/9/2017 and silence ever since.

It says that for everyone, even after a decision.

Are they receptive of in the area emails? I have been complete since August and have not heard anything.
