Was on a plane coming back from an interview when I got this rejection... Super pumped about my interview, though, so this didn't sting too badly. Good luck guys!

Depends on your LizzyM I guess? Mine is low: 70. (High gpa, low mcat) So I don't expect an interview but havent been rejected yet either. My guess is my low mcat score meant I was stratified further down in the pool and so I havent been looked at yet.

I’m the opposite - LizzyM 73-74 with a High MCAT and low GPA<3.5 - I keep thinking my low GPA stratified me further down in the pool. I’ve also heard that some schools won’t even look at applications with GPAs < 3.5. Maybe they combine the GPAs and MCATs and we’re both stuck at the bottom?

Rejected yesterday at noon as well, 2 pubs. California chances getting slimmer every day

I'm surprised I'm not rejected yet. But I know it's coming

Seems like a bunch of us with CS background are getting rejected today (myself included)... interesting trend considering the proximity to the Silicon Valley 😵

First post on sdn! Anyone have any idea why so many people with CS backgrounds (and high stats + publications, no less) are getting rejected 🙁 ? I mean, Stanford has a really large CS department + tons of cool research in the field so you'd think they would love for their med students to take advantage/contribute. Submitted my secondary here last week and am slightly freaking out because I also have a tech background😱

Might be because so many people have similar thoughts going into it their application to Stanford. So while it might seem like a unique approach to medicine compared to other premeds, it isn't a novel idea. Also, I'm sure they're a bit wary of this "kind" of student as the percentage of Stanford students going into industry as opposed to residency is one of the largest amongst all US MD schools.

Probably because "so many" people of any particular background gets rejected from all med schools.

I'd wager that there are more CS majors at Stanford than at most institutions despite your premise.

Fams, RIP me. I used my work email for amcas, verified 8/1 or something and complete at Stanford 8/24. I've since left that job so I had to change my email through AMCAS because my old work email that Stanford has on file is no longer active. Who can reassure me Stanford is going to send my rejection to my updated email address? Haha. I didn't receive one this weekend but my LizzyM is 71 so. For those of you who received a rejection, does it show up anywhere on the portal?

Reject Squad member here, I can't find it on the portal anywhere. Maybe someone else who changed their email can answer, otherwise I'd just check with them about whether they have the updated email.

Thanks for the reply. You rock.

Not sure that it will be in the portal. My confirmation email said that all communication will be done by email.

Do you still have the option to withdraw? Apparently last year the 'Withdraw' link disappeared from the portal for a few applicants even before they got the formal rejection email.

Yes, it's still there! (so I can get the last word in if I ever want to, lol)

Happy to answer any other questions as the poster child for Stanford rejection, AMA

Post-secondary rejection today, complete earlier this month. LM 75.

Hi friends! I am a Knight-Hennessy applicant and I was wondering about the notification timeline. For instance, I know that if I am being considered for KH, I will be notified in December. However, let's say the med school reviewed my application and does not want to extend an II. Would I get a rejection email then and there or do you think I would have to wait until December to hear back anything at all? Furthermore, if KH read my application and does not want to continue my consideration but the med school does, do I still have to wait until December? Any insight would be appreciated 🙂

I also applied KH. Some dude on this thread said that s/he applied for KH but was rejected by Stanford last week, if that gives you any insight into the process. Stanford's decision on your app trumps any action on the KH part.

Aw I see! Thank you, that does give me some insight. Best of luck to you! 🙂

So many rejections. I'm still wondering why I haven't been rejected yet with a LM 70. I'm guessing they just haven't looked at low LM's yet since I've yet to see a low LM rejection.

Hi all, any knowledge on whether Stanford accepts update letters? And ITA notes? Sorry in advance if this has been covered before...

I believe they do, but only if you have been invited for an interview already.

(removed) question answered above.

From the website:

"
D. Application Updates
Updates to an application will be accepted only after an applicant has been invited to interview. Interview decisions are made based on information submitted in the AMCAS application, Stanford Supplemental Application, and letters of recommendation."

Thanks for the info!

And for those wondering my lizzy m is around 75, thought i had a decent shot but hey its stanford lol

How far along in the interview season is Stanford? Are they currently scheduling into 2018?

I got my II about a month ago (second week of Oct) and they were only scheduling at the start of Nov (I scheduled for this Saturday, 11/11, and there were earlier dates available, but the calendar isn't accessible to me any longer). Given its only a month later I doubt things have progressed that far however, and they're likely still scheduling for early/mid Dec.

Mind sharing when you were complete?

Posted it in the thread some time ago, but complete Sept 25, II second week of Oct.

Can't explain the three week turnaround, since i'm ORM with average stats (LizzyM 75) from a state school. Compsci + bio double major with strong research however, which may have helped (3 pubs with 1 as first author + a 4th accepted at time of secondary, also as first author, all in medium-high to high impact journals: Nature Biotech, Neuron, PNAS, IEEE Transactions).

That's quite impressive, and your stats are pretty good too. GL to you!

Does anyone know if stanford likes to receive thank you letters after interviews?

Hey guys, asking for a friend. On the contrary, has anyone who applied KH already been offered an interview for Stanford med?
