I know that Stanford doesn't technically accept updates pre-interview.... BUUUUT I just published a first author paper in a good journal and feel like it would make a huge difference if they knew about this. Is there any way around this no updates thing?

No unfortunately because Stanford specifically states on their website that no updates pre-interview are allowed to make it fair for all applicants. Why would you want to go around that? Might end up hurting you if anything. You should update other schools about it however.

this is huge, and I would suggest just dropping them an email asking what you should do, or if an exception can be made. It really doesn't hurt.

But I also guess I'm different. If the majority opinion is not to, then don't do it. I just can't imagine them getting angry at you and automatically rejecting you just because you ask if an exception can be made for a huge accomplishment....

In reality, I believe they say that because they don't want everyone sending them super minor updates...

From their website:
"Updates to an application will be accepted only after an applicant has been invited to interview... It is important that we maintain a consistent and equitable standard for all applications to be considered with the same basis of information. If applicable, additional information can be submitted after the day of your interview.

When submitting additional information, please indicate that you have been interviewed or we may not include updates with your file. Acceptable updates include any significant developments in scholarly endeavors or projects, or additional letters of recommendation. Please do not send additional coursework or transcripts unless we have specifically requested such information from you."

I see both sides. Its just so hard when Stanford is my top school and I can't tell them about this! Thanks so much for your input guys!

Has anyone been recently invited to interview?

Around what time was the social thing the night before? I thought I saw a time somewhere but can't seem to find it anymore. Just trying to book flights and figure out what time I should be landing at SFO

My night it was 7-8ish, but people were coming and going as they needed. 🙂

average in general, not for Stanford obviously their matriculants usually have much higher stats. I went to an Ivy and my stats are pretty average for our outgoing students.

anyway what I meant in response to mcdocky, is neither my GPA nor MCAT is really high or really low. They are relatively on par with each other at least for my school

I also know plenty of people at Stanford who probably had a similar Lizzy M. I know someone who had a 3.8 and a 33 averaged MCAT.
but if you come from Ivy League, that also says something, right? that it's not necessarily that easy to come out with a good GPA (clueless on inflation). I don't think for your stats, that that's what necessarily kept you out. Keep your head up!!!

thanks! Yeah that's why I didn't take the MCAT again, they are good enough ish, but my stats aren't flashy either. It's all good, I already been accepted to a school and I have a few interviews lined up that I'm excited about. Saves me an expensive flight too. Not every school is going to like you, that's life! I just wanted keep people who had similar complete dates/ stats in the loop. Good luck to those still in the running.

Complete mid-July here and haven't heard anything yet... average stats though (LM: 71-73) so am unsure why I haven't been rejected yet

Already been asked (no answer), but have any Hennessy-Knight applicants been extended an interview invite yet?

It could mean something or it could mean nothing. 😀 D:

How far in advance of your interview day did you get the social invite? Now I'm concerned I may have missed something.

Does anyone know when Stanford's second look weekend is?

Thanks! So it's start Saturday 4/7 - Sunday 4/8?
I just remember them saying that first weekend; unfortunately, I don't remember the exact dates. Hopefully someone else knows better haha

Yes, last week. Think this means I should assume I didn't get KH? (Earlier someone said that finalists for KH would interview for Stanford Med when they were flown out to do their KH interviews.)

Dude CONGRATS. I mean, honestly, a part of me would rather be in your place with a Stanford interview invite already. I called Stanford admissions earlier last week. I tried MY BEST to ask them about the different scenarios. I asked if it was possible that Stanford could offer an interview invite already to someone that KH was also interested in. They were at best, 'evasive' about that answer and said "anything was possible". They said that they will try to coordinate the KH and Stanford interviews to the best of their abilities. But God knows what's actually happening.

TLDR: I wouldn't lose hope. You're still in the running until KH comes out with a No.

Hi friends! I am a Knight-Hennessy applicant and I was wondering about the notification timeline. For instance, I know that if I am being considered for KH, I will be notified in December. However, let's say the med school reviewed my application and does not want to extend an II. Would I get a rejection email then and there or do you think I would have to wait until December to hear back anything at all? Furthermore, if KH read my application and does not want to continue my consideration but the med school does, do I still have to wait until December? Any insight would be appreciated 🙂

There are people who applied to both who do have interviews. But no one knows whether that means KH is still interested or not.

I also applied KH. Some dude on this thread said that s/he applied for KH but was rejected by Stanford last week, if that gives you any insight into the process. Stanford's decision on your app trumps any action on the KH part.

same comment as above.

just curious, do you have a complete date? Curious as to whether they're looking at things chronologically, or if all KH applicants regardless of complete date are being looked at at the same time.

I received my secondary in late July and completed it in mid-September (late because I had to do KH).

Alright, same story. Well, seems like they look at all KH applications at the same time after the deadline.
