Does anyone know when they'll send out emails about our status? They met on the 15th right?
Yes they did meet on the 15th. I would assume that if they haven’t contacted us by now we would just have to wait till the next committee meeting. I haven’t heard anything either but hopefully we both hear something soon. The wait is killer. My friend that was accepted earlier this cycle told me he didn’t even get an email and just got his acceptance letter in the mail so that’s also a possibility. Good luck!

Haha I've never been so impatient to hear someone tell me, " Yeah you might be accepted, assuming all these other people that we liked don't want to come here." #waitlistlife

At my interview day, they said they would notify us via mail, so I’m assuming we should get a letter this week.

people are still accepting offers to other schools and leaving every day! At bowling green and Lexington. Don’t loose hope! Keep in touch with admissions. If you think you could like bowling green or Lexington tell them that! Because you never know!!! Good luck to those of you still waiting!

This might be a stupid question, but is there a difference between being waitlisted and deferred? I got my letter, and it said that they had deferred a decision on my application and would continue to consider it against other applicants as the cycle continued. Is that worse than being waitlisted?

I received the same letter, but the portal had listed my status as alternate before I got the letter. Not sure what the difference is.

When did you get your letter? The portal had closed already when I got mine, so I can’t see any updates on the portal.

It is the same! Schools sometimes use different terminology but in the case of uk it is the same thing!

Okay thanks! So if they said they are going to update me on the status of my application no later than late February, what are they going to update me on then? Just say I'm still on the waitlist?

Did yours say specifically late February? because mine just said they’ll review it again “as they complete the 2018 application cycle” they didn’t give me a time frame.

Yes, it said they will "review my application again after they have completed additional interviews for the 2018 application cycle. We will subsequently update you on the status of your application no later than late February."

My letter also said late February, any day now...

Interesting, maybe it’s due to the differences in interview dates or campuses we interviewed at(i interviewed in BG) or I might be getting rejected. Guess we will just have to wait and see hahah

Did anyone receive any mail today who received the letter that they "would be notified no later than late February" earlier in the cycle?

Does anyone know how the waitlist for this school works, are we ranked, is it another committee? I wanted to ask after my interview, but never got the chance to. Also, when do most people on the waitlist begin to hear back?

I’m not sure about the other stuff but I do know that on the MSAR it says that applicants are not advised about their rank on the waitlist all they tell us is that we are in fact on the waitlist lol

I called and they essentially told me I was in a "hold" pool which is essentially an alternate but the aren't allowed to call it that. So I think if you didn't get a "no" letter after being deferred that you're in that pool.

Anyone care to share stats or lizzy m score who got an interview? i will be applying this summer and wondering how i shape up!

Don’t compare your self to everyone else. I promise you, it’s really all over the place. Best idea is to attend the open houses and meet people in person prior to applying.

Has anyone seen a 2018 match list from UKy yet?

Has anyone on the alternate list heard anything? Also does anyone know if the alternate list is different from the waitlist, or are they the same thing?
I contacted the admissions office and was told I am still on the alternate list and that "we have not really seen movement in the class yet...thing usually start shaking around mid-April."

They are the same and typically there is no movement until after official drop day which is April 30th! So they do not release info to waitlisted students until mid May ish

I know UK doesn’t release their waitlist rankings, but would you, or anyone, happen to know how they compile their waitlist? Is it on a first come first serve basis or do they go through and rank everyone on the waitlist?

Im pretty sure as a spot opens up they'll compare all the most competitive people on the waitlist to see who to accept. Could be wrong though since they don't "officially" tell you how it works

Also typically when a school says it is unranked they really mean "we have a ranking of you all but we are not releasing it". It is much more open and discussion based but yeah they have a score on us. It is not just luck of the draw!

I looked last year, and the earliest people from the waitlist started to hear back was the first week of May.
Just wanted to contribute some food for thought on this topic as well. UK does not require a deposit like many schools, So it is much more likely that people will hold their seats until the very last minute. So just keep holding on to those positive vibes and hopefully some seats will open up

Any word on when merit-based scholarships will be announced?

I read all financial aid award letters will be released June 15. Not sure if the scholarships will be included in that.

Got a call from admissions this week offering a scholarship so I guess this week is when they give out notifications.

Anyone else just get an email saying they are offically in the UKCOM alternate pool? I guess we already knew that but it’s official now lol

I wonder if it was sent to all wait listed people?

Does anyone who has access to the MSAR data know anything about waitlist movement here?

MSAR doesn’t have anything useful. Basically the waitlist size varies and movement isn’t reported.

Is there any confirmation that the NKY campus will be opening in fall of 2019?

Everything I’ve read says they are on track. The new Dean was just announced. Bowling green has all of the official accreditation’s, the building is a month behind but everything else is still on track. However, they had arrangements set up in case that happened so classes will still begin on time despite the construction delay. So.... with that I would say The North campus should be an even smoother process. Because they will have figured out the kinks while opening BG.

That would be a great chance for more of us KY kiddos to get a spot! Hoping the NKY campus opens in fall of 2019 for the ‘inagural’ class!!

Thanks.

From what i know, they are using existing structures at NKU and not building a new place for it.. maybe just updating, so should be okay. I could be wrong though, thats just what I heard when it was first announced.

UK made the official switch to pass/fail all 4 years. The wording also makes it seem like its unranked but don't quote me on that part. If people are having trouble picking schools this could help!
