Just wanted to update after I called them. Not a fluke, yay! 🙂 There's another email that comes in about a week to confirm which of the four dates is your actual interview date. Still not exactly sure why I didn't get the initial email. She did make it seem like they were sending more IIs the next two weeks, so here's to more good news!

Thanks for helping keep the hope alive 🙂

I haven't submitted my application, yet, so I'm interested in what you do. It's difficult for those of us who graduated a long time ago. I can't remember what I did in college...
I ended up using my non-student organization. I feel like it really adds to my application in a positive way. We'll see if they think I'm an idiot for including it.

Does anyone know if Miami really reviews before letters are in? And/or make interview decisions before letters are in? On the portal, it says I'm under review, but none of my letter writers have submitted my letters yet.

Like it shows X for letters?

I could only remember two organizations that I was really involved with that I didn't discuss elsewhere (discussed my most meaningful non-collegiate organization in a different place). I think you should be fine either way.

You bet. Literally not a single letter writer has submitted a letter to AMCAS yet.

It's starting to make me really anxious. I have a decent GPA, good MCAT, and excellent clinical work experience, so I feel like I could get IIs based on those alone... but my letter writers are killing me.

For real! I had one that stopped responding after a while - it looks like my emails went to spam. He submitted over the weekend. Good luck - that was such a stressful time for me since I felt like i had no control over it - you're literally waiting for others to figure out what to do.

Wow I'm very lucky then, my committee sends a composite letter with a committee letter so like a big overview they write and then a PDF with all the individual letters. The submitted it to AMCAS in June within a week of getting my last letter which is lightning fast

Mine

Dang you lucked out. I had all my letters in my april, and my secondaries done by early july. My committee didn't submit until the second week of august :/

But we're in it now I suppose

congratulations!! what are your stats/in-state status if you don't mind sharing? 🙂

Hi all, I posted this question yesterday but it seemed to be washed out of view from the discussion of II, so I'm asking it again. I appreciate anyone who could provide feedback!

I've already submitted secondary a few weeks ago and am now considering applying for the MD/MPH program.

1. Is it too late in the cycle that my combined degree application won't be read by the adcom?
2. Will this submission have any beneficial or detrimental effect on my regular MD decision?
3. If I do end up applying for MD/MPH, should I go back to AMCAS and change the selection of program from "Regular MD" to "Combined Medical Degree/Graduate"?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I think you need to call Miami to ask!

From what I know.

1. No, it's plenty early in the cycle and different committees review it. As I know you could be accepted to one and declined to the other.

2. No, different committees

3. I have no clue. I'd call the school.

Thank you both for the feedback. I'll take a more in-depth look into the program and its requirements and contact the school as necessary.

"Your Application has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Applicants will be invited to interview based upon their evaluation score from the Admissions Committee review. You will be contacted by email if you are selected for an interview. Interview invitations are extended between August and March."

Other people have this message on their app status?

yes! For weeeeeekssssss lol can't wait for a decision !

I'm probably just being neurotic but if I've been on the "complete for review" status since 7/11 does that necessarily mean something bad? I've seen quite a few individuals be scored before me who have submitted much later. I'm assuming it's either because my stats are below the schools medians or I'm just unlucky and my reviewer is taking their sweet time.

I suppose I'm just curious if in the past this has just led to an early rejection.

Thanks everyone

Let me know what you hear! The MPH program sounds interesting.

How do you know if you've been scored?

Anyone still without a secondary? I've been verified since 6/2, and all my letter have been in since the end of June...

I contacted Admissions. They said that since the programs are all independent, our applications would be considered as long as they're submitted prior to the 1/15 deadline. We'd also need to update our AMCAS app and choose the combined degree option. Hope this helps anyone else who might have the same questions!

Anyone still under review? Submitted 7/6 with all letters....

i think my under review status changed wording slightly and turned from black to green

I submitted mine on 7/22 and on 8/11 I noticed that my application had been reviewed by the Admissions Committee .. not sure how they're ranking the order they review but I haven't been invited to an interview (and likely won't lol)

There's a lot of strong candidates this year. I'm also not too hopeful myself. Last year, the first II's were given out on Aug. 2 according to the thread, but this year II's seem to be handed out a bit later. Not sure what is going on. Perhaps people on SDN just aren't getting as many II's as previous years....

Part of it is that the applications were sent to medical schools in June last year. Most schools didn't start sending secondaries until after July 4 this year, which delays the entire process by a week or two.

Thanks for the insight!

I know one person said they received an II, however, it does say on MSAR they aren't being given out until the 15th.. I was sharing my dates as I know ST328 and dangerzone were worried they hadn't been reviewed yet.. If I do get an II I dont expect it to come for months! I just wanted to share my dates to give a frame of reference for others!

:highfive::soexcited:🙂 :heckyeah::biglove:🤣:clap: HOLY COW! Just checked my email a few minutes ago and got an II for MD and MD/MPH program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been a very long awaited dream of mine to be able to land an II at my top choice school. Shocked to say the least and glad my efforts paid off. My entire body was trembling and my hands were shaking so bad that I couldn't even register my patient. Just about made my month.

Congrats all with IIs!! It seems that 2 of the 3 reported IIs were for MD/MPH applicants. Any MD only IIs yet?

🙂 so happy for you!

Hopefully I'll see some of you on interview day!! I had to switch around some of my options but the admissions office told me they'd get back to me tomorrow on the date. 🙂

II! Didn't get an email but after seeing the other posts here I checked my portal and got my invite for the regular MD program!!
Congratulations! Had your application portal reached "reviewed" status before you received the invite?

Congrats!! Did you initially apply to the MD/MPH program? I only ask since it seems all the other II's had applied to the MD/MPH!

Does anyone know if you are considered for both the MD and MD/MPH program with the 2 day interview? Or do you have to schedule 2 separate interviews, 1 day for MD and 2 days for MD/MPH, 3 days total if you've been offered interviews to both?
