Is there a section specifically for Casper on the portal? I don't see one
mine didn't have one. now it does and says not received, but i'm sure they have it. Probably someone going through one applicant at a time entering all this stuff, we should all cut them some slack with the phone calls.

I did not have a section for Casper until today.. so they must be just adding it but they are counting as complete without.. probably because this is this first year they are using casper

Oh, just refreshed the portal. I see the Casper section now 🙂 thanks guys!

Interview invite just now! Saturday dates are super convenient
Congrats on the interview! If you don't mind answering, when were you complete and what are your stats?

Added this school on AMCAS yesterday. Received and completed secondary today. Casper 7/9. Anyone think I'm a little on the late side?

nah i only submitted my secondary 7 days ago and already got interview!

did anyone who took casper 7/26 have a green checkmark on the portal for it? I thought it was 3 weeks but maybe its 4 weeks for scores to be sent

Just Submitted a secondary a little later than planned. Hoping for an interview here as this is a top choice for me.

I took Casper on 7/9 (or 7/6, idr the date...) and there still is no check mark. Probably just a lot of applicants and will change in time.

For those of you with IIs, did you guys get a complete email? I haven't but the portal says complete, so yea.

I got an interview! I also went to UVM for undergrad (not a vermont resident) so that may have helped.

Casper green check mark today. Taken 7/26.

Is Vermont the easiest state to get an interview as an IS-applicant?

this is such a arbitrary question, but probably not. More likely a texas or less represented mid west state that doesn't take out of state applications

I think I saw around 90ish applicants IS, and 80ish applicants granted interviews, with 34 matriculants. How many IS do they usually accept?

depending on how you analyze the stats, yes.
The University of Arkansas gives automatic interviews to every IS applicant. You just have to call the admissions office and make your appointment. Other than an automatic interview though, I would suspect Vermont has the highest IS interview percentage.

That's true. I think Vermont and Arkansas probably have the highest interview rates for IS

This also may be a dumb question, but how does UVM look at multiple MCAT scores? Do they take the most recent? I can't seem to find it on the website. If you guys find it, could you link me? Thanks!

Also, besides for listing your current and permanent address and residency status in the AMCAS Primary application, does VT list any residency questions in the secondary? Do they send any additional forms asking for verification of state residency?

The requirements listed here lists that you send in residency verification forms in January - April of the year you plan to matriculate, which is usually after you have heard back from VT.

Damn haven't seen an II in a while usually on Wednesdays

Here's a previously compiled list of multiple MCAT score policies for some schools. Not sure if its updated but it seems like Larner looks at all scores (ambiguous as to whether that means average or considers each separately, but I think its the latter).

Multiple MCAT Score Policy School List

Also, why are there so few VT in-state matriculants? Do they only reserve 30ish seats and then the rest for OOS?

That doesn't reflect the acceptances. It's hard to know how many of those interviewed got accepted. Also, they may just have a policy of extending interviews to most IS applicants, but not necessarily accepting them.

For those interviewing tomorrow, 8/30/17, if check-in begins at 11:30 am, does anyone know when we should expect to be finished for the day?

Should have gotten an email letting you know it should be done around 5:30pm.

Hey guys,

Current UVM student here (M1), and I'm happy answer questions if you have them. Honestly I don't spend a lot of time here, but I'll be in and out.

I won't give you an inside track on anything, but I can definitely shed some light on some of those nagging questions.

Thanks for posting on here. One of the reasons I applied to Vermont was the active learning curriculum that has eliminated lectures. As an M1, what's been your experience with this environment? I'd love to hear how medical school without lectures works for someone actually experiencing it.

Well, we still do have lectures. I think, on average for the first few weeks, we had maybe 6 hours of lecture per week, and then the rest was filled with various other non-lecture style sessions, e.g. Team-based learning, small group problem-based learning, some flipped classroom where you do the lecture beforehand and then come to class to do questions or work on problems as a team. Overall, I think it's working, though I'm not sure how well full elimination of lectures will be. I like the current balance. For the most part though, the non-lecture stuff is pretty good, though it is dependent somewhat on your team for some activities, but if you do the prep and make a good faith effort, then it really is a good learning environment in my opinion.

Do you know if there is any medical student lodging available for the 9/16 interview date? I called admissions and they told me to wait a few weeks as the M1s are settling in. I haven't heard anything yet and its almost September. Should I start looking for outside lodging? Thanks.

I don't know anything about that. I do know that we have our first exam tomorrow, so they may be waiting until after that and the holiday weekend to see if anyone is willing to host. Alternatively, they might be posting something in the weekly compendium of news which comes out every Monday. You may want to make a reservation somewhere with free cancellation (if available) just to be sure, and then you can bail on it if student housing comes through.
