2017-2018 University of Washington

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I heard (from a somewhat reliable source) that the AdCom was going to meet the first part of this week - so I’m thinking we’ll hear any day now.

Patience & good luck vibes to all of us!
I'm going to choose to selectively pay attention to your info despite all of the uncertainty, because it conforms with what I want 😀 Hopefully the calls will start going out tonight!!

Called admissions yesterday Me:"Hi, I just wanted to know if the excom meeting was taking place already?" Woman at admissions: "What's an excom meeting?" Me: "UHHHHHHH" Woman at admissions: Sorry, it's my first day....

Financial aid award letters went out today but on mine it was just Stafford and Grad Plus. You're saying that there are additional scholarships later on that we can apply for through the school? I only got like 15k above tuition to cover the cost of living for a year.

Were all letters supposed to go out today? I didn’t get one

I just want to add the following for anyone that would be attending classes at the Seattle campus-

The 48 bus route runs along 23rd ave (on the other side of the Montlake Bridge). The 48 drops you right outside UW's med center. It seems to me that living within walking distance to 23rd along cap hill or Eastlake would make a solid quick commute.

Something to consider when looking for housing!

And also best of luck to the extremely neurotic applicants posting on here and waiting to hear back!! I'm looking forward to hearing good news!

This is super helpful, thanks! I'll have to keep this in mind when I start hunting for places.

Sounds about right. Remember, that’s for 9 months of living, not 12 months.

If they don't get back to us by tonight... 😡
If it turns out they don’t follow the AMCAS recommendations, maybe I’ll call and re-use the Einstein adcom’s line for the person who signed up for an uninvited interview: “Would you kindly explain why and how this happened?”

Got the call! OOR. Does anyone know if there is a facebook group for accepted students?
Congrats!! And so it begins...

Daytime phone call, so I'm guessing that means they wrapped up the EXCOM meeting yesterday? Hopefully everybody will hear back by tomorrow, and they won't drag out the reject/waitlist emails over the weekend :/

Thanks so much you guys!
I interviewed in November.
My portal has not changed - the excom member told me to expect an email.
Best of luck to everyone. Hang in there!
I know this might be a weird question, but does your last name begin with an A by chance? Maybe they make the calls of acceptance in alphabetical order? It can't be by first name bc mine starts with an A

I got a Missed call and voicemail from an unknown Seattle number. Listened to the voicemail (hands shaking).. "Hello! This is... KAISER PERMANENTE.. calling to talk about..."
Seriously Kaiser? You could call me LITERALLY ANY OTHER DAY.

Thanks for being responsive here! I know my stress is turning into some pretty annoying neuroticism. I feel like we're pirahnas at a feeding frenzy or something lol.

Did your excom by chance say when to expect the email? I think they do all of the calls, and just one round of emails/portal update -- so when the people with acceptance calls get their emails, my guess is others will get waitlist/reject emails the same day...

Killing time by labeling plates for tomorrow, waiting to the news to roll in...

I am seeking out a PCP so everytime someone calls and says "Hello this is dr..." I get all excited and then let down when I find out it's not UWSOM :hungover:

Maybe they don't finish their big multiple day meeting until this afternoon?
Yeah, it’s hard to say. Could be that marshmallow got a call before today’s meeting started. The year when they knew the days of the meeting, there were indeed calls between each day so they don’t always wait until the end of the multi-day meeting to begin calls. On the other hand, there were usually only two or three acceptance calls reported on SDN during the final EXCOM time, with the remaining getting accepted after alternate list. So it’s hard to know with our incomplete SDN-reported info...

Maybe they have already sent out all the acceptances and they are finalizing the alternate list/rejections..

I know FB is a poor indicator of numbers, but only 3 members have been added recently

My portal now has admissions decision...
Looks like it’s following last year’s trend. I don’t have the portal update, barring a miracle phone call, going to expect a rejection tonight or tomorrow. The waitlist has always moved past at least 30 positions, top 10 is as good as in.

I don’t have a new tab either. Hope we get some good news

Can someone post the link to the tables that were posted about the waitlist callups??

I also found a table in the 2014 thread that will soon be relevant for many -- a list of the number of WA/OOR alternates pulled (and year): 41 (2013), 43 (2012), 45 (2011), 40 (2009), 32 (2008), 34 (2007), 40 (2006), 29 (2005), 31 (2004), 39 (2003), 33 (2002), 47 (2001), 33 (2000)

Probably could find the previous few years. I think I remember reading that last year (or maybe it was 2016) got to 32

Thanks! I was hoping to get the actual source data just to evaluate how confident I should or should not feel
