I'm getting the feeling that plenty of applicants received an email asking if we have questions and saying we would be a "great fit" for the class (at least that's what my email said). I'm not gonna keep my hopes up for an acceptance...even though the emails really make it seem like we should. Starting to feel like "highly ranked" emails 2.0. why u do dis mayo.

How ... disheartening, especially considering I have received zero such communications post-interview. Maybe it's because I sent in an LOI pretty soon after my interview, so it renders moot the point of asking if I have any questions about Mayo? Though the "great fit" part is still a bit worrisome ...

If it makes you feel better, I have a strong connection with Mayo, was told by my interview that he wanted me there, and haven't received any such email either. I uploaded my LOI shortly after my interview as well. I wouldn't put too much energy into thinking about it :)

I am another applicant so deplorable that they haven't had any post-interview communications from my interviewers. To make it worse, my interview performance was so paltry that the interviewers never mentioned that they wanted me at the school either. I also could only muster up enough enthusiasm to send a pitiable letter of interest, since I find it hard to commit to a school without any financial information. Guess I'm pretty screwed huh :soexcited:

Lol don't forget about what happened last year with all the emails that meant nothing. I wouldn't put too much stock into it. A current student mentioned they also sent a letter of interest mentioning needing to wait on financial info. I also did the same. I think it's fine.

I wrote my initial comment to point out that even if you haven't received any communications, it's very possible that you are admitted. These letters that we received could very well mean nothing (much like the "highly ranked" emails last year). But it's just annoying that they get your hopes up and potentially tear them down when there was no reason to do that. Either way, Mayo is an amazing school and I hope that all of us hear great news next week!

No, rejections come at the way end, waitlists probably a bit later after acceptances.

Edit: This is how it was for previous years. Of course, things could change this year.

Im not sure but looks like meronebib answered already.

Although if acceptances go out all at once and I dont get one then ill just assume it's a waitlist/rejection lol. For now im treating waitlists the same as a rejection to not get my hopes up too high.

Excited to hear about all of your acceptances next week! I saw a lot of important people in tons of meetings this past week. It will be a very humbling and exciting experience, one that you will remember forever. Make sure your phones are charged up!

Based on the medical student posting the humpday gif then deleting it, I'm guessing decisions are going out on Wednesday lol

Someone posted something about it earlier in this thread. I think it was a either a student who had interviewed and they mentioned it during interview day or maybe a current med student. Can't remember exactly.

I rarely get calls from unknown numbers but during this cycle I've gotten spam calls from New York, Nashville, and St. Louis. All cities with schools i interviewed at. It's like the schools are giving our numbers out to these spam callers

Are they big on letters of intent to the point where they'll ignore you if you don't send one or a letter of interest? I've been flip-flopping on it for a long time and I fear that now it's too late if decide to send one!

People in the past have mentioned getting in without sending one and if you get waitlisted it could always benefit you then.

Most schools that do their acceptances all in one batch and call the accepted students like Mayo does wait until that task is completed before sending out the WL and rejection decisions. ADCOMS use this site and know that the news spreads like wildfire and they really like the chance to give people the good news on a phone call. If they sent out the rejections/WL earlier than the calls, and then word got out on SDN, everyone who did not get an email would "know" or assume they were accepted, spoiling the surprise of the phone calls.

Its kind of late for the initial batch of acceptances. It may help if your on the wait list.

I have a feeling they said "tomorrow or the next day" to give themselves a bit of a grace period. I imagine it would be fairly difficult to get ahold of everyone in one day, especially if the applicant has a full time job (me), and wouldn't be able to get back to them before they close that day. Just a thought. Fingers crossed we get some calls tomorrow! Everyone get some rest and relax tonight, as hard as that sounds...

Would you guys put Mayo AZ on par with MN? At the interview they made it pretty clear that it is a single national school but I keep hearing different things from different people. I'm wondering if it is worth turning down a more established school (also top 10) for AZ.

Mayo students have been rotating around the country for years, so I can't imagine the quality of the clinical education to be any different. I suppose it's possible PD's could still view AZ and MN in a different light, but it's highly unlikely IMO

To add to this, you can do clerkships in Rochester if you felt so inclined. Don't they say Step 1 and clerkships matter the most to residencies? Step 1 scores should be the same across campuses since the curriculum is identical.
