2018-2019 Wayne State University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The real question is whether a hold here is a good thing like at gw or a bad thing Like everywhere else

Literally everyone who hasn't yet received an II gets put on hold at GW lmao. They haven't sent out any Rs yet

I haven't seen anyone on SDN go from SC --> interview. I believe everyone on SDN that received an interview went from SS --> interview. I'm taking my SC as a hold. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I am getting.
hey guys, any out of state peeps receive an interview invite after being in SS? I've been in SS since Sept. 4.

Pretty sure everyone that had an II went from SS

Anyone complete post labour day at SS or SC yet? Mine submitted sept 13 because of a mistake in my LORs. Still MR. Canadian. LizzyM ~78.

Was complete September 15th (added more schools after I got my second MCAT back), and I am also still MR. LizzyM 70ish, OOS US ORM.

Just so everyone knows, I spoke with admissions and they explained that the MR, SS, and SC code system is brand new and they have no idea how it works in terms of interviews. It's just a reference marker of where your application is and they explained that multiple sorting systems are used so SS and SC don't mean the same for everyone essentially.

Lol I guess it’s so super secret even admissions people outside of adcoms don’t know what it means

anyone knows if the school is receptive to ITA emails? I have an interview at another school in MI and was wondering if I could spare my wallet a bit...

If I were to hazard a guess, I bet SC is very similar to a "hold for re-review". The stellar applicants or perfect fits move to the interview stage and bypass that entirely, and the SC is a "maybe later."

Does anyone know if the 9:45-5 interviews actually end around 5? The 'interview information' page on the admissions website says that interviews take place over half a day so I'm wondering if they actually take the whole day.

Wait, sorry if this is redundant, but my application went from MR to SS and it says "Med school in Process"...what does that mean?

October 16th... The first day they release acceptances. The wait begins.

Alright so I interviewed yesterday and was told that I would do my student interview over skype. Does anyone have information on this?

That's odd. We did our student interviews there.

Can anyone who has interviewed already shed some light on the chronology of the interview? The admissions website says the following are components of interview day:
  • A long-form interview conducted by up to two admissions interviewers
  • Five, multiple mini-interviews (MMIs) conducted by Community Partners
  • Lunch with current Wayne State University School of Medicine students
  • A tour of the school
  • An interview with a current medical student
Is this the order of events for the day?

My interview was scheduled 7:45 am - 4pm
  • Check in/ hang out in a room with some fruit/coffee
  • shuttled to a building where the interviews are and given an overview of the interview
  • split up into groups based on the sticker of your name tag (some people will do MMI/student interview first and some will do the faculty interview first. The MMI/student interview group is split in two and you switch with each other half way through).
  • groups switch and do the other interviews
  • shuttled back to the original building and given a tour of the school with medical student (you will also take your picture and if you attend it will show up on your student ID)
  • Lunch
  • Tour of Detroit (you're dismissed right after the tour ends, I got out around 2:45pm )

Quick question (mostly directed at my fellow lady applicants).... Interview shoes? I’m less than 5 feet tall so I was planning on wearing heels to make myself look a little less like a child, but with a campus tour I might be dying by the end.

Those of you that have interviewed already, is there a lot of walking or are you literally shuttled around?

I wore heels and I was a little sore at the end but not awful. You are shuttled around between buildings and for the Detroit tour so the only walking you really do is within the buildings. As long as you wear sensible sized heels you should be good to go!

Thanks a bunch! That was super helpful 🙂
