2019-2020 Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Can anyone post the secondary questions for this cycle?
1. What makes you a good fit for the CUSOM mission?
2. Have you applied to med school in the past 2 years? How have you improved your application?
3. What tenets of the osteopathic philosophy stand out to you?
4. What five qualities do you have that will help build the climate at CUSOM?

I submitted the secondary application yesterday. Nerve racking because once it's submitted, you cannot look at it at all. Best of luck!

Can anyone confirm that these are the questions for this year? I received my secondary a couple of days ago and the prompts are the same as last year. Similar to the ones listed above but slightly different.

yes like the ones above but slightly different.

Is anybody still waiting for a secondary?? I was verified around June 7th

Still waiting as well. I've only received the first "we got your application" email about a week ago. Nothing about being sent to pre-screen committee nor secondary invite. For reference, my GPA is around their median and MCAT subsections are all well above their minimums.

I received an email that says this:
"We would like to inform you that your file is now complete and ready for final review with the Admissions Committee. After the committee has reviewed your secondary application and supplemental materials, we will follow up with you regarding any change with your application status.
Please understand that the application process is very competitive. The Admissions Committee will notify you within the application cycle when they would like to extend an offer for an interview. Our interview cycle generally begins in August, but is subject to change. There may be a delay in this step of the application process."
I wonder if this is normal? Neither a good nor bad sign? I feel like it's bad, like they're saying "You're good, but not that good...ttyl"

To me it sounds like everything is ready and the next thing you’ll hear is a rejection or interview invite.

I got the same email last cycle and was invited to interview. I think this is just the generic "complete email." All you can do now is wait. I hope this helps!

Is there a word/character limit for the prompts?

I'm also still waiting. Received the "your application is being reviewed by a pre-screen committee" email on June 28th.
I also got this. From past forums, this pre-screen is done for people with <40th percentile in CARS or P/S to see if they like our application enough to make an exception to their rule of >40% on all MCAT subsections.

Anyone else waiting on a secondary that didn’t get a prescreen email either?

Just got an email saying that my file is now complete and ready for final review with the Admissions Committee. This waiting game is more painful than I could have ever imagined..

That is weird because I also have one 123 and overall of 500 and never received that email. Maybe it is your GPA or if you said yes to any convictions on the AACOMAS primary?
I have a 123 in one section, as well, and I never received that email. But, I just got a secondary today.

Weirdly enough I got the secondary email and submitted last week and then yesterday received the in depth review email.....Confused but whatever

Anyone have any insight on what to do if we don't remember out SAT scores? Never took the ACT or GRE but my SAT was around 7 years ago and I have no clue how to access those numbers. I don't see anything about it here or in their FAQ.

A lot of undergraduate institutions will store your SAT scores in their online portals. That's how I got mine.

Received complete/ready for review email today (7/10). Submitted 7/5.

Thank you! Third year applying and in all years I applied I only got one interview so I am pretty stoked. I am from AZ!

That's awesome! Best of luck in your interview; everything I've read about the school reflects that they have a very caring and attentive faculty. Definitely considering asking them about not having received a secondary now :nailbiting:

II!!! August 5th 3 days after my ACOM interview lol. Going broke haha.
Congrats!! I will also be interviewing at ACOM on 8/2! I only just got this secondary but submitting later tonight/early tomorrow morning! CUSOM is #2 on my DO list!

Am i the only one confused with these 2 questions being similar?
1-*What five qualities do you feel you bring to CUSOM that would enhance the overall climate of our school?
Please describe how you are a good fit for the CUSOM mission.
2-Briefly describe how you are a good fit for the CUSOM Mission

So I wrote why I am a good fit and now I need 5 more reasons to why I am a good fit again?

Can't 100% remember but i think i treated the 5 qualities question as a diversity question and why a good fit question as a "what do you like about us that you also like/do" e.g i come from a rural place, you guys love rural.

I could be off tho

Finally got my secondary yesterday and submitted today! Glad they gave me a shot 😀

Got rejected and heart broken.. Really wanted a chance at this school. Good luck to all proceeding with their applications!

What were your stats if you don't mind me asking and when did you send in your secondary??

Don't mind at all! cgpa: 3.4, sgpa 3.0, MCAT 500
I didn't even get a secondary 🙁
