UHMM. So I didn't get an email about being accepted, nor does my portal say I was but I just got an email from Downstate that starts as:

"Thank you for applying to SUNY Downstate and Congratulations once again on your acceptance to the College of Medicine."

Anyone else get this?

I honestly don’t even know if I’m set on going to Downstate if I get off the waitlist, but I’m still checking this thread religiously because at this point I’m too invested in all of the absurdity this school is putting everyone through lol— SO happy for you guys @hopefulpremedboi and (hopefully) @AnonymousDoctorGuyPerson if that email is a sign of what I think it is.....you guys have provided a lot of great energy on this thread and really deserve the A 🙂

I got the same email. Was waitlisted 5/6. Checked the CYMS Tool and nothing. Sadly I’m pretty sure it’s an error on SUNY’s part but would love to be wrong. Fingers crossed!!

I e-mailed admissions as follows:

Thank you for reaching out about the virtual Shadow-a-Student program! I see that this e-mail is addressed to students currently admitted to the College of Medicine. I am currently still on the Alternate List and was wondering if this was a mistake, or if perhaps this program is open to those on the AL as well?

I just wanted to put a reminder here that regardless what waitlist you were on or if you end up getting accepted, it does not say ANYTHING about who you are as a person or even who you are as a med school candidate. People get accepted to or rejected from schools for a variety of reasons. Judging from the mutual support and genuine passion for medicine expressed by people in this thread, I’m confident that we will all get to where we want to be one way or another.

Also, technically, the e-mail can be "sent in error" since it was sent before an acceptance e-mail hahaha 😛

Seems like a true false alarm haha, the people who did get the e-mail who weren't accepted paid the deposit on the pre-matriculation tab (which I also accidentally did myself in a rush thinking it was required to stay on the AL haha 😛)

Seems like they are super responsive and receptive to emails regarding pre-metric-related documents.

I didn't personally email downstate but I believe the consensus here is that their AL is ranked.
