I sent an update letter in March - would it be annoying to send a LOI? I don't want to over communicate bc I know how busy they probably are lol

I sent in 2! The first I sent in March. My second was a COVID update and "received" the day I was put onto the WL (5/10) lolol. Meaning they probably read it after I was placed on the WL. Meaning it could have helped get me off today? idk, but I feel like a second one really can't hurt!

Every 2 months or so is acceptable to send one. They're busy but the worst thing that could happen is they don't read it, I don't think it could hurt.

Did really NOBODY asked for their rank in the waitlist? I might bite the bullet and send an email, but I have sent so many I feel I’ll be remembered as the annoying applicant

K wait im late to the party but i was put on AL on 5/10 and haven't heard from them...should I be worried?

So my primary care office is not doing in-person visits and student health told me to just go to an urgent care. Should I really have to do this for health clearance? I live with at-risk family members in an area with high covid density...I am just worried

I think if you let them know that, they will probably give you an option that works; I am sure they are going to be understanding of your situation. You have a legitimate concern.

I wouldn't worry about completing this now if it could put your family at risk. isn't it due on July 1st? I'd wait until mid June and maybe your PCP will be open by then!

I've heard that some schools are not announcing mode of instruction for the fall since they don't want to risk losing students to other medical students. Also, since DS is a SUNY school they might not make a final decision about the mode of classes until Cuomo decides on schools.
Yeah but doesn’t that hurt the students who look for off campus housing? What if someone signs a lease and then classes are cancelled and they can’t get out of it

The amount of money I take out in my FA package is directly affected by whether or not fall classes will be online, I need a decision on this soon!

do you know the deadline to accept FA packages?

From some students I spoke with today, it sounded very likely the first unit would likely be online only (Aug-Oct). Still the need official word though. Also, did anyone join the Q and A after the observe a student opportunity? any highlights? I couldn't get back into zoom the meeting.

It literally lasted 5mins, only like two ppl asked questions. Someone asked if step1 being p/f will change curriculum and the answer was most likely no. Also, if matching would be affected which wasn’t talked about as much.

They said ~2 weeks before they're due, which for MD only is early August ish. I'm potentially taking MPH classes this summer though so mine needs to be finalized around June 1

hey 5/6 AL person here, graduating next week do y'all think updating DS on the honors I receive at graduation will do anything to help my standing on the waitlist? Summa Cum Laude and honors of excellence in my major?

You can add this to ur LOI if you haven’t written one yet.

damn.... i literally just sent a LOI a few days ago but was just informed about these honors:/ how should I go about it now?

I got both of them too but I didn’t include it. Idk how much of a difference they would make if they know about your GPA and activities already

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile

i guess you're right, Cause they can prob tell by the GPA anyways? Do these honors show up on our transcript cause then i can just send that since it's required anyways. I already sent my LOI so I can't really update them again

Summa cum laude and graduation with excellence are worthwhile and impressive as hell. Send a quick update, it is not the same as an LOI. I don't think it will hurt you in any way to let them know
