"phonetically spell you first name"
what does that mean?
It's basically writing out the pronunciation of your name. This is a helpful website! NameShouts - Pronounce Names Right!

Secondary finally received early this morning 🙂
Me too!
Yes!IS just received my 2º now.
They ask: Have you participated in service to an underserved community/population for at least a year?
Do you think working with underserved populations in other countries would be acceptable?
Is this for PRIME? I also have this issue/complication.IS just received my 2º now.

Low stat applicant here too. Haven't gotten secondary yet.Secondary received, low stat applicant. According to MSAR, I'm not even in the 10th percentiles... Do they pre-screen?
In state with a cGPA 3.88, sGPA 3.94, 514 MCAT. No secondary yet, Verified 5/31. Should I be worried yet about getting screened out?
Based on MSAR, 88% matriculated were in-state. Most of their applicants were in-state (71%) but only 0.69% OOS matriculated.Does anyone know how difficult it is to be accepted as an OOS at Irvine?
I would say so! Maybe make a statement as to why you feel they're underserved - just to strengthen your point a bitsorry if this is a dumb question but does volunteering with autistic kids count as work with an underserved population? or does underserved specifically refer to racial/economic groups
FWIW I work with kids with intellectual disabilities (some autistic, some not) and I put all those activities and then said "disabled" as the population. This may not be true for high-functioning autism though.sorry if this is a dumb question but does volunteering with autistic kids count as work with an underserved population? or does underserved specifically refer to racial/economic groups
I didn't classify my work with children with autism as underserved, but if you can justify it, I think you can!sorry if this is a dumb question but does volunteering with autistic kids count as work with an underserved population? or does underserved specifically refer to racial/economic groups
For Bio prereqs it says must include 1 upper division course-- will genetics course count for this (course is considered BIO322 and BIO322L)?
for the gap year essay how in depth did yall go into the description? also when they say why you chose this experience vs the others do they mean like why did you choose A over B or why were you interested in general
Quick question regarding the secondary:
For the activities section, should we put down pretty much all our activities from AMCAS? Or actually just the most ‘’meaningful” ones? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
holy crap I submitted the day after you and now I'm watching my email like a hawk lmao but CONGRATS!!! That was a super quick turnaround, 5 days?!II received! at 2:34 am? (I'm out of country right now so times might be off on my email stamp). LizzyM 79.80, IS (socal), only gave me two dates in August and September. complete 7/20
Depends on how you talk about it. if you truly did help then sure but if you assisted a physician then I do not believe you can say you 'helped' them by yourself. For the personal accomplishment prompt, would it be out of place to talk about an experience with a patient that I helped?
Yes they are. I got one on the 22nd so as of then they still are giving out secondaries.Does anyone know if they're still sending out secondaries? Still haven't gotten one from UCI 😢
If you get an email from UC Irvine with a title: "AMCAS Application Received" (wherein they just acknowledge the receipt of your applicatoin), you're pretty much out of contention for receiving any immediate secondaries, right?

It's not an R until you get an R. Crazier things have happened, don't lose hope!I got that e-mail on July 17th and still haven't gotten a secondary. I'm chalking it up as a pre-secondary reject. I'm OOS with average MD matriculant stats anyways, so makes sense.
For the underserved question, do you only list things that were over a year long? Or if multiple things add up to more than a year, should you add all of them.
Wait it does let me approve/complete that page though with shorter timesMy app didn’t let me add short amounts of time. If it wasn’t longer than a year from the start date to the end date it wouldn’t let me move on.
Is work with at-risk/immigrant/economically disadvantages youth mentorship considered service to underserved or does it have to be medically underserved?
Had the same question as well. Anyone figure this out? I was going to only put the 3 most meaningful ones that I put on my AMCAS, but looking at all of the options they give you, it seems like they want everything?
