I think the biggest difference is research opportunities. I somehow stumbled upon the database of current research projects at UW when I was looking for more information about the III program. There were 3 entries about 3 different projects at Spokane while there were hundreds of projects at Seattle. Of course, you can still choose to do research in the summer at the Seattle campus while studying at Spokane for the rest of the year. So if you are interested in academic medicine and hypercompetitive specialties, Seattle campus can offer a little more. Otherwise, the teaching materials should be fairly similar across all campuses.

Have they sent out any emails yet though? I’m scared they’re still coming lol

edit: looks like last year calls went out nov 15th too, then the SUC and R emails went out the 16th, but it was a Thursday and Friday
 
My residency application was finally verified on 11/3/19 — I’m wondering if anyone on a similar timeline has been contacted for an interview or anything yet.
 
SUC'd as well. Bummer. Better than a rejection, but not a great feeling still.

Nah. I spent too much time at the UWMC to want to apply to the Seattle campus.
 
I procrastinated and haven’t submitted my app yet, even tho it’s been verified. Would it be too late to submit now?

I interviewed in Seattle. I very much regret this choice; it seems like they're going for "top-15" quality of applicants at their Seattle site and a more state-school, WWAMI-first approach in Spokane, if their post-interview acceptance rates are any indication.

What do you mean by top-15 quality of applicants? Top-15 by mcat and GPA, or other factors?

They interview way more people in seattle than spokane, proportional to class size in each, but I'm not sure how much of that is self-selection by applicants.

I meant that there must be stiffer competition in Seattle for seats. I could very easily be wrong on this front. Not attempting to imply that Spokane is lesser, just wondering if there's more strict criteria for admission.

Thanks for this info, and so sorry to hear that. It’s easy to second guess, and you may be right- it wouldn’t shock me if the self selected pool is particularly competitive in Seattle. Hopefully in some way, this is how it was meant to work out, and either you’ll end up at another amazing school or be in a better position to kill it when you apply to UW next year.

I think there is definitely more competition for Seattle seats, but yeah I don't know if the criteria are different.

You know this how? I heard UW Seattle interviews anyone with a pulse.

I think the criteria is the same between both campuses. Like everyone said, there are more interviewees in Seattle, since more people want to live in Seattle. This naturally leads to more competition.

I ask because I know the MT interviews are held in January. Idk how far in advance they book their interviews.

As someone who picked and was accepted to Spokane, I find this statement to be rather offensive. You did say that there is more competition in Seattle because of the numbers which is true. However, by saying you regret picking Seattle over Spokane simply because they interview “top-15 quality applicants” implies that getting into UWSOM in Spokane would have given you a much better chance because they interview inferior applicants? FYI a lot of people who go to the Spokane campus have strong ties and/or good reasons to go to the campus. They asked me on my interview why I, someone from Bellevue, wants to be in Spokane. I have my reasons and it clearly worked. What I’m saying is if you think applying to Spokane because less people apply WILL help you then you might get a rude awakening. If I were you I’d focus on what you did or didn’t do rather than on other people. Take your rejection with class, move on, and try again if that’s what you want.

I do not remember the exact number but Seattle interviews ~400 people for 100 seats while Spokane interviews ~100 people for 60 seats. So statistically speaking you seems to be correct but I do not think you are. They are not selecting randomly. By the time you walk into your interview your chance is either 0% or 100%. Either they want you or they don't. Either they think that you are a good fit or they don't.

Also UW has rolling admission meaning they do not rank everyone from top to bottom at the end of the cycle and just pick the top 100 applicants for Seattle. I think they just accept those they think are a good fit for their mission until that 100 seats are filled.

My point is - Do not focus much on the acceptance rate. If you prefer Seattle campus because of research opportunities, do that. If you like Spokane because of rural exposure, do that. I hope that you have acceptance at other schools but if you have to reapply, I think you should choose the site that fits you more. Your chance is either 0% or 100% at both site. As Jirachi has said, he/she could clearly say why he/she wanted to be in Spokane so his/her chance was 100%.
 
Only MSTP interview slot left is late March btw. Rescheduled from early Jan, so that may be open now
