2020-2021 Albany

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
is the class full? haven't heard anything from them so just wishing they would hurry the heck up on my rejection letter.

Wasn’t able to make second look because of work, but I’ll try to watch the videos later. Did anything stand out or surprise anyone?

So today I received an email with the computer specs required for the program. I am confused now. Are they allowing us to buy our own choice of computer as long as it meets the requirements or are they providing us with the lenovo computer for everybody?

Will they send any status updates to UC status via email? Or does the Albany portal give any information ?

Is today getting off of UC day? 👀

Been noticing a lot of movement later in the year (from past application cycles), happens on Mondays, with the occasional Friday....

For those who are planning on withdrawing or who already have - since the deposits were paid for with money orders, do they issue refunds via money order as well?

This is a random question, but does anyone know the dates for when orientation/classes start? I just want to be able to plan ahead a little bit and have a better grasp of my near future but I'm not sure when it will be.

Is anyone still waiting for a response? I have yet to be rejected, but also never received an II. I am just wondering if maybe I never completed my application or something at this point lol
+1. It was probably that damn "Finalize" button!

I was wondering the same too.
Did you send your withdrawal email to the admissions email? if yes, did you get a reply?

Yup. No you did everything right. I completed my secondary application and finalized it mid September and I still have heard nothing back from Albany on my application. They have ghosted us. We did everything we were supposed to do.

So have there beeen ~200 A's given out at this point according to FB group numbers meaning only about 100 of us in the UC list out of 600 will be getting out?

How are you gauging 200 As? Based on how many ppl have joined the FB page? Aren't there gonna be moderators/adcom members/m1/m2s/etc on the page as well to bump the number up?

I doubt there’s been 200 As given out and I seriously doubt there’s 600 of us under consideration...

It’s quite possible there have been 200 A’s given. The class of 2025 page has slowly trickled up from ~100 to now ~200, and there are undoubtedly some acceptances that have not joined the page. They accept ~350, so to have 200 A’s in mid April would not be surprising to me.

Idk how many people are UC, but they interview something like 700 and no one has posted a post-II rejection that I’ve seen, so it is possible that everyone who was not immediately accepted was placed UC meaning upwards of 500 or more could be UC.

I know it’s just a back-of-the-envelope calculation but we also can’t discount the applicants who will decline their acceptances and those who will withdraw from UC/ decline after pulled from UC. So the chances are probably higher than what can be extracted from this.

Yeah I agree. Impossible to predict how many will withdraw, but people seem to think there will be a higher rate of withdrawal this year so we will see lol

The sad part is I'm restudying for the mcat and preparing for reapplication in the hopes I get in and it's all for nothing. 🥺

Just think about it this way: you get in and you’ll be better prepared from your mcat studies. You get in and that money you spent on reapplying will be multiplied back to you once you’re practicing. And you won’t have an additional year without that 6 figure salary. You get in and have been “wasting time” working on your essays and your activities all year but it’s made you a better person and will impact who you are as a physician. I am hoping for the best for each person waiting (I’m in the same position) but you gotta reapply and move forward with optimism no matter what happens.

Lmao I have no insider info, so technically hopeful, but I like to think I am p sure of it. It's gotta be soon right? People narrowed down to 3 yest, gotta think they are going to let some UC people in before may 1st?
That would make sense...
