2020-2021 Dartmouth (Geisel)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Quick q for you all -- interviewed in late Sept, I'm sending an additional LOR to another school (from my current gap year supervisor) and was wondering if there is a good way for me to send this to Dartmouth as well/if they will accept this kind of update. I don't see a LOR option on the Document Upload tab of the portal, and I'd also have to see the LOR in order to upload it this way. Per Dartmouth's website,

"Can I send updates? What is the best way to do this?
On your status page in online portal, there is a Documents Upload option. This can be used to send updates."

I have no idea if Dartmouth accepts new letters of rec, but typically schools want those through AMCAS instead of document upload. Just create a new letter and assign it like your first set of LORs!

They finally got to me, twas an R for me. Complete 8/15. It has been a hell of a ride, Good luck to everyone else!
So sorry to hear that, and I wish you the best of luck for your other schools!! If I may ask, did they just send out this email, or was it earlier in the day?

Any words of wisdom for those that have already interviewed? I have my interview tomorrow morning and kinda nervous for this one!

i have mine tomorrow as well; this is my first and I’m so so nervous! Good luck!! 🙂
Good luck to you too! Maybe I’ll make a shout out to you if you go to the “break out” lobby they have set up.

Try to relax! Both my interviewers were super friendly and genuinely interested in getting to know me. Expect some prepared questions but still conversational 🙂

Thank you. I believe it was sent out in the morning yesterday but I only saw it later during the day.

For those who interviewed already, was the group activity stressful? I know you can't share specifics but was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to prepare for this

no just be respectful and work collaboratively. Try to see all sides of the issue and don't be afraid if you have something alternative to contribute.

thinking back on my II, and realizing i prob shouldn't have made a joke about the tuition after being asked if there was something surprising to me about this school (i then followed up with an actual, better answer). will this be a red flag?

might depend on the interviewer? but honestly you are probably fine haha don't overthink!

"Geisel Conversations" isn't mandatory, is it?
Not mandatory but actually worthwhile going if you are interviewing. Unlike most virtual interviews, Geisel doesn't have a dedicated student panel session and this is really your only shot to hear directly from med students. Plus you can bring an adult beverage of your choice if you are so inclined.

Pre II R yesterday. Complete very early on, too pissed to check the date. OOS ORM 516/3.98 with 75 WARS. 2 Rs in two days. Don’t know why I thought I had a shot at an ivy and UChicago anyway. Pain.
To be fair the Ivy schools aren't all super high caliber though. Life happens, you'll still be a great doctor!

anyone know if Geisel has a no thank you note policy? Didn't see anything about it in particular but wanted to double check.

Just curious how long do u usually hear back after interviews? Either reject or acceptance

I was told initial decisions could come sometime between 2-4 weeks or so after interview - BUT if you are a borderline-ish candidate (e.g. tossup b/w acceptance/WL) they could push off your decision up until March

I haven’t seen a wave of As for awhile on this thread though...

Don’t let these rejections get to you, or take them personal. at the end of the day it’s all about fit! Maybe the admissions at those schools didn’t see you as a great fit but that’s not an attack on your impressive scores! You’re clearly an impressive applicant and there’s going to be schools down the line who will love to get to know you more through an interview! Keep that head up!! you worked so hard just to even be in this situation
