2020-2021 Dartmouth (Geisel)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Also got an MD/PhD II on Friday. Complete 8/26. Super short notice with a 2 day interview next week, but still grateful! On that note, anybody have advice or suggestions for the "group interview" portion? None of my other program invites have anything like this so I'm not really sure what to expect.

Same! Not sure what to expect

I think dartmouth does good cop/bad cop. I had one interview that was fairly hostile and then one where the interviewer was extremely sweet and didn't actually ask any questions.

Both of mine were really sweet and easy compared to other schools. Probably just depends on who you get

+1 student was probably my best interview so far while faculty member was tough.

I'm also going to assume they have massive waitlist movement and low yield. so they're probs going to issue way more As than their actual class size.

anyone else who was complete early sept (I was 9/6) hear anything back whether it was an R or II?

Can anyone who has interviewed here give some insight as to how the "group activity" went for them? It's my first time doing this sort of thing for an interview, and I'm a little unsure of what to expect. Thanks!

It was low stress and kinda fun. I would not worry too much, you need no previous knowledge or anything. Relax and good luck!

To confirm, we can send thank you emails directly to interviewers right?

Make sure you talk but don't be aggressive about it. Don't be condescending to other interviewees. I thought I did okay in mine, ended up with an A fwiw.

+1, i feel like they didn’t even look at it their class probably full already! Gd luck ya’ll!
Yeah, most likely. Their class is only about 90 students, so it gets full pretty quickly.

As someone who’s interviewing tomorrow, I sure hope not!!

I would bet someone a really nice home-made baked good (post-COVID haha) that the class isn't full yet. As someone who applied and got pre-ii rejected two cycles ago (nothing from here yet this cycle), Dartmouth is a school that does rolling rejections early-ish on. Anecdotally, several other schools go in more well-defined batches starting in say December in a typical year, I think.
