Who else is excited for Michigan Monday???

This is my motto for every Michigan Monday. I think it might fit for this entire application season in general.

I just saw this:URiM: includes all AMCAS Under-Represented in Medicine categories + Middle Eastern/Arab American decent. The UMMS definition of URiM during our holistic review extends beyond race and ethnicity to include LGBTQ+ applicants and applicants with disabilities. We are currently developing methodologies to appropriately gather this data from our future class members.

Was there a place on the app to indicate your specific race? I no longer remember... How would they know if an applicant is Arab since that's usually noted down as white?

Wait, so is Middle Eastern underrepresented?

According to Michigan, it is. However, they haven't employed a specific way of identifying these people since in AMCAS they fall under the "white" category. So I'm not sure how they go about doing it. Perhaps by family background?

Thanks for the info, is there a link to where it says this?

Thank you so much!

Happy Michigan Monday! I remember reading on an old thread that UMich sends II to their OOS applicants first, as a general rule. Does anyone know roughly when they begin sending a lot of IS II (even a general month)?

You could peek at the 2019-2020 interview tracker to see when in-state started receiving interviews and then adjust that to this year's michigan monday (today)

I did but only one IS person documented their II at all.

Are they sent out all at once, or over the course of the day?

idk about that but their twitter account usually posts once they send out the IIs. And they haven't posted yet today, so I am assuming they are not done sending them out yet??? idk, maybe a little too optimistic haha
My pessimistic (/realistic) side says they've already sent them all out at once and just only one of them uses SDN/reddit haha. We'll probably be seeing a tweet sometime soon.

Lol, someone else got an II with nearly the same stats as the other person (524/3.96)

So are the giving out II one by one? I guess in my mind they would release 20 all at once idk. Just don’t know if I should give up spamming my email refresh or not.

Those are my stats, but no II for me (yet). I wonder if Texas residency works against me. Texas isn’t listed as one of the top ten states from which students in their matriculating class come — somewhat surprising given its size.

This thread is so painful because not only don’t have a secondary, but my AMCAS isn't even verified yet. There was a mistake in how my transcripts were submitted, and now I have to wait an additional three weeks...
