I didn’t apply here, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading the thread. Especially about cheese. That is all.
hi, so have any II's been sent out for this school yet?
Gouda Luck!I didn’t apply here, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading the thread. Especially about cheese. That is all.
Only Wisconsin and California residents are allowed from what I've read so farIs this school heavily instate favored?
it's instate favored but their class from last year represents 18 statesIs this school heavily instate favored?
Allowed? Other states aren’t allowed, what?Only Wisconsin and California residents are allowed from what I've read so far
I feel like this would be a reasonable outlook maybe in September. I'm fortunate to no longer have to stress about Toledo, but I think there are many easy things they could have done to relieve the burden on applicants. While I know it is tough for all of us to wait, I think we need to focus on offering up some grace to the ADCOM. Ohio and the UT community has been hit hard; just like the rest of the country amid this global pandemic and getting frustrated with them is not going to help. UT is a great school and I know they will assemble a great MD class of 2025. Let us all be supportive and patient and we will know something soon.

nah lol. they are the ONLY school in the country to be THIS dysfunctional. there is no excuse. fortunately for them they hold all the power and they’ll be able to a field a class without issues, if with lower average statsWhile I know it is tough for all of us to wait, I think we need to focus on offering up some grace to the ADCOM. ^ This. If this is how they treat their applicants, I don’t even want to know how they treat their students, staff, and faculty.I feel like this would be a reasonable outlook maybe in September. -They could have at any point dropped their virtual interview system and just used zoom. Or even just switched to a traditional interview. Harvard and Hopkins do it every year, I'm sure they could do it for one cycle. They've known this cycle would be online since March. Several vaccines were developed before Toledo figured out their system.
- If that's too much to ask, they could easily send out "hey, because of XXX we can't schedule it yet, but you have been selected for an interview"
-If that's too much to ask, they could at least send out rejections. There are thousands of people who have their hopes up that actually aren't going to get an interview from Toledo. They could at least let those applicants know. If they haven't even looked at applications and thousands of applications have sat on a computer unopened, that indicates an even greater degree of administrative incompetence.
-If that's too much, they could at least send out the slightest amount of communication. They aren't even communicating with their student ambassadors.
-If that's too much, they could stop lying to applicants saying that they're about to send II's out (I realize this is not the fault of the assistants who send those e-mails out). I think at one point they even claimed that to someone that interviews had begun and then admitted a week later that they had not.
I recognize that Toledo is affected by the pandemic. But frankly the only reason they've responded to in such a poor way is because they can afford to. This is a seller's market and they know it. They know they don't need to hold themselves to remotely the same standard as applicants are held. I said this months ago, but the burden of their incompetence is going to fall on the applicants. Unless they get interviews and acceptances out asap, there will dozens if not hundreds of applicants who will spend thousands of $, countless hours of work, and an insane amount of stress re-applying by the time Toledo accepts them. Those applicants will graciously accept those spots, but that doesn't mean Toledo's handling of this justified IMHO.

Simps gonna simp 🤷♂️bruh

For reference, I’ve applied to three other schools that have over 12,000 applications this year and while they’ve been slow this year in terms of interviews, they’ve sent updates to us applicants about the process and one has extended their interview season to early June (!). Something like this for UToledo would have been much appreciated. It’s been funny for a few months now, but honestly this is utter incompetence or laziness. I can’t decide which one it is.
Hey past self. So, like, this didnt age real well given Toledo still hasnt sent anything out and Trump kinda, well... uh, tried to overthrow the US Capitol building. What happens first?:
A) Toledo sends out interview invites
B) Trump admits he lost the election.
The ultimate showdown.

she's not gonna accept you bro 😂Simps gonna simp 🤷♂️
Wrong, This aged like a fine wine. And on Jan 20th the National Guard will be sending out invites on behalf of Toledo.Hey past self. So, like, this didnt age real well given Toledo still hasnt sent anything out and Trump kinda, well... uh, tried to overthrow the US Capitol building.
So the competition is still going strong.
At this point this is the most reasonable guess I think...Hear me out, guys! I have an idea:
...what if the real interview invite was the friends we made along the way?

Future Doctor Me: Im gonna write you a RX for a greater healing potion to prevent you perma-dying, and then after a long rest give me a call. That’s it. I’m starting my own medical school. Required coursework shall include the cultural enrichment (cheese, Star Wars, gaming appreciation) on top of standard coursework. Electives include Surgery, Psych, Wine Pairings, and D&D.
Do they screen for secondary? I have never received.
Spoiler: It won’t bewill this be the week? stay tuned!!!!
If you do call and ask they'll probably say "Within the next two weeks" as they've been saying for months.Has anyone called and asked recently? Also, has anyone sent in an application update or letter of continued interest?

ut admissions in shamblesThat's great and all. But at some point, the platitudes and their empty promises become old. It feels incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful for the Admissions Office to not even touch base directly with its applicants.
Hello Everyone,
We understand that it has been a difficult cycle, and we cannot imagine how stressful it must be to be in your shoes. Remember that we were there once, some more recently than others, so we know how it feels. It is a grueling and agonizing process, I'm sure many can relate to the constant need to check emails for updates. This is one of those situations where you can only truly understand how much the College of Medicine and Life Sciences cares for its students once you come here. Admissions is doing their absolute best, and the switch to virtual has been a strain for every medical school. I would advise you to remember that not all medical schools function similarly, so committees and schools cannot be compared to each other in a simple manner. Many systems that have their benefits in non-pandemic times suffer disproportionately more than others in a pandemic. Different regions of the country have been hit harder than others because of the pandemic. Please remember that there are so many factors in play that complicate the process. We appreciate your patience and hard work, and how much you have sacrificed to commit to a medical education. The Admissions Committee will continue to do everything they can, and the faculty responsible for medical education are doing an outstanding job making sure that we have enough clinical experiences to rival or exceed any other medical school while maintaining safety precautions. Please continue to post your questions and concerns, and we will address them if we can.
Thank you
tl;dr: we hold all the cards. we know we will have no trouble filling our class with willing, if slightly disgruntled students.Hello Everyone,

Yup. Also it's a bit silly to say "no two committees are the same" when they're the only school (to my knowledge) to not have sent out any IIs yet. Not even invites, forget about scheduling a day. Literary no one knows if they're still being considered or not. That's great and all. But at some point, the platitudes and their empty promises become old. It feels incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful for the Admissions Office to not even touch base directly with its applicants.
At this point, getting an interview from UT is like having a date show up a half-hour late, all the while texting you that they’re “five minutes away”… yeah, you might stick around for the date anyways, but you’re going into it with a bad impression of the person. I hope the adcom’s are prepared to start the interview day by openly, honestly, and effectively addressing the concerns that applicants have had about how UT handled this application cycle.Hello Everyone,

You deserve no heat for what is happening, and I am sorry that you have to be the "face" of admissions and thus receive a lot of the criticism. I am sure the student ambassadors are doing an amazing job, and I commend you for at least offering some words during this time.Hello Everyone,

Yes.Wouldn’t it depend on who makes the decision to interview? Like some schools (UW, Quinnipiac?) don’t need a specific admission committee meeting to send an interview invite out, but use one to determine A’s.
The better question: will we have a new president/administration before theres an II from Toledo?
Thank you so much. I appreciate your update and deep reverence to UT! I am excited to see what the next few weeks bring. This has always been my dream medical school! CheersHello Everyone,
