2020-2021 Toledo

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Was the 80-90% post interview acceptance rate last year because of them being late like this cycle?

Just got UTCOM's 2021 match list, figured I'll share it here with you guys --> https://www.utoledo.edu/med/student.../UToledoMed-2021-Commencement-Program-web.pdf

There were several stand out matches listed below:
Ophtho - Iowa, Arizona, Irvine
Ortho - MSU, Maryland
EM - NW, Icahn
PM&R - Cleveland Clinic, Vandy, JHU
Gen surg - Mayo, Cleveland Clinic
Child neuro - Cincy,
Nsgy - VCU
IM - Brown, NYU, UChicago, Cleveland Clinic,
Neuro - Cornell, UChicago
Rads - Wisconsin, WF
Rad onc - UMich,
Path - NYU
Plastics - Icahn

Overall though, pretty standard match if not slightly skewed to the less prestigious residencies this year. There's variability year to year. Really not saying that my upperclassmen's value is reduced because of this, your life and career is what you make of it, but these are just the facts for anyone who is curious.

Compare this to last year's notable matches:
IM - Umich x3, Mayo, Emory, UPMC, Yale
Med-Peds - USC
Ortho - MSU, Wayne state, st.mary's, temple, SUNY upstate
EM - Yale, UTSW
Gen surg - Duke
Anes - Mayo, UMich, CC x 2
Plastics - UMich, Rochester
Nsgy - Illinois
OBGYN - UPMC
Psych - CC x 2
Path - UChicago
Rads - Duke
Derm - WF, Loma linda, arizona, Umich, alabama
Vasc surg - NW, Arizona
Thoracic surg - Virginia
Uro - Brooke army

I interviewed with UTCOM on May 5th and emailed them over the weekend. They got back to me today saying they expect the decision in another 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile here I was thinking I would hear back in 2 weeks after my interview like they told me. 😞

Who are you guys emailing? Like what’s the email for Toledo admissions? I have some questions as well

Also guys, I know it's all jokes to be all hopeless now but I just checked the groupme and it's still at 82. Still less than half of the class is filled. And given that it's way past april 30th, the cyms commit to enroll deadline, it's not like there are people out there that make this 82/175 number less than what it actually is. We can trust this number that there really is only half of the class filled for now.

Which means they still have at least 100 As they have to give out. Most likely it's going to be more though, since students who are waiting to hear back from UT might have already committed to other med schools and reject UT's offer, if they were to receive UT's acceptance. I'm sure there's gna be a HUGE wave of As coming soon, the biggest this cycle for UT.

Fingers crossed it's by the end of the week - it would be a nice way to begin Memorial Day weekend

I recently also sent an email inquiring about a decision timeline (RIP medadmissions inbox lately) and was told the committee is “currently working on (my) final evaluations.” I interviewed April 13th so hopefully this means some news soon for us April interviewees!

Does anyone when the scholarship app will be due? Is it still May 31st or did it get changed due to decisions still coming out?

ME TOO!!!! I was literally typing when you posted lol

I know this has been asked before, but they have a high post interview acceptance rate right? Because this roller coaster is a bit much for me to just get rejected.

Yeah. IIRC it was something like 70-75% two years ago, and if I'm remembering it right last year's was even higher.
