10/17 here, no news today either. I didn't hear of any 10/17 today even for IS. I wonder what the difference may be? Potentially they interview groups by subsets of similar characteristics? (Could totally be bogus haha)

Anyway, a little worried that the 10/24 gang got some news, but mostly IS except for lala5887 (congratulations by the way!!)

CaliMed interviewed 10/17 and got in, but they had an odd application. Lower than average stats but great EC's/story. So maybe that had something to do with it.

Was just wondering if anyone knew if they go back and offer prematches for people who interviewed earlier even if they got overlooked before? I interviewed 10/24- does that essentially mean I have to wait for Match now?

Hi guys, this is my first time posting. Received an acceptance today! Complete 9/19, II received 9/29, interviewed 10/17! sGPA 3.25, MCAT 507, just to show that stats aren’t everything, I’m over the moon! Good luck to everyone!
Awesome pawsome! Congratulations on that achievement. I agree with you.

any hope left for an OOS II? submitted around 7/30 and crickets

I read somewhere here before that UTSW does not take updates to applications. Does that extend to letters of intent as well?

I have my interview tomorrow (OOS, LM 77)! Any advice?
My interviewers were pretty conversational. Know your app and all your essays well, and maybe think of how you learned from those experiences. Otherwise, be genuine and try to relax. You won't answer every question perfectly, but that's alright.

You probably already know this, @UltramarineLily since you are a Texan, but the way to declare your intent to a TMDSAS school at this stage in the game is to rank them first in your Match preference ranking.
If things don't go your way on Match Day and you end up on a Wait List, that would be the time (April or May) to write to a school and restate your interest.

Does the same apply for letters of interest?

Yes I would say so in general. Since Match Day takes care of the bulk of admissions offers for Texas, while waiting I recommend you read as much as you can about each school where you have interviewed so you can rank appropriately to make a great choice that fits you.
While some schools may add a “letter of interest” to your file, it might not get read. Some schools straight out say they don’t take updates, UTSW is one.

Do you know if these rules happen to apply to us OOS students? I interviewed here, and want to show my interest, but idk how to if they don't take "letters of interest" or updates.
Wait until March and write to them if you haven’t been made an offer. They are still interviewing IS and OOS currently and haven’t selected their class.

Sorry this may be a dumb q, but where the heck does the school rank tab pop up after an interview? and what does it look like ? because the tmdsas portal user guide is from 2015 and is outdated. pls help

On your TMDSAS application, on the side above “Status” there is a “Preference” and then under it is “Prematch offer Withdrawal”. If you received an II recently, it takes a day or two to pop up! At lest for me it took that long!

So this is the section where you rank your schools based of off where you interviewed? and if you are prematched later on then the schools will email you individually?

There's one section for withdrawing from schools (allowing them to offer other students your position in their pool), and there's another for ranking the schools that you received a prematch for.

Is anyone familiar with the pre-match process? I've looked multiple places, and it seems like accepting a pre-match offer at this time is non-binding? I am very excited about the UTSW pre-match offer, but I don't know what the consequences of accepting it are. The fact that the language on the portal and the UTSW website makes it sound like once I accept this offer I am basically ready to matriculate is making me less certain what I should do now...

You should accept. It is not binding.

go watch the videos on the Match on TMDSAS home page.

Yea so its recommended you accept all your prematch offers. This basically means you have been accepted and now you are holding your spot at these schools. Now when match day comes about you basically rank the schools you were offered a prematch at as well as schools you were interviewed at and didnt receive any prematches from. If you prematched to a school and put it number 1 you will 100% attend the school and be matched into it and your apps wil be withdrawn from all other schools. Like everyone has said prematch is nonbinding, its just an early acceptance and you taking the offer just means youre holding your spot.

I am feeling nervous about tomorrow, as prematches went out to 10/24 interviewees last Wednesday, and i interviewed soon after 10/24. In case anyone else had the same feeling, I went back to previous threads to glean some information...

2019
I saw A's go out on October 30th to October 12th interviewees, and then another round go out around November 20th.

2018
Prematch day was November 15th so A's went out at midnight, then another round on November 22nd, then more on November 29th.

All this being said, it seems as if we are more in line with 2018, and we may see weekly releases considering it is late November.

Nobody let Wysdoc see this post as she will rightly scold me for my wild speculations based on no good evidence. Good luck tomorrow everyone!

So... no acceptances today, it seems?

Well, like that one weather channel TV show: "It Could Happen Tomorrow."

Hi! MS4 here. I interviewed before the prematch day my application year (used to be 11/15) and didn't prematch on the first day. I ended up prematching on the second wave of prematches in early December! So unless something has changed, the opportunity for you to hear earlier than match is still there 🙂

Any current students at UTSW here who would mind sharing their honest impressions of the school? A lot of what I found online is kind of outdated (before STEP change and all the changes to the UTSW curriculum). I would love to hear your thoughts!
Hi! I am a current MS4. I have LOVED my experience at UT Southwestern! It really has been everything I was hoping it would be. I've made great friendships and I really have grown so much. It's definitely a challenging school but that's the kind of environment that helps me thrive, and the P/F preclinical really helps take the stress off. I also have found it to be nurturing despite the size -- our deans are crazy responsive to emails and our class GroupMe/FB group/etc are always full of my classmates trying to help each other out. The school has a great reputation and even now at just the beginning of interview season, I've met so many alumni or people familiar with the school that are impressed with our training and opportunities. Even interviewing at lots of OOS programs, almost every one so far has happened to have a UTSW alum among the program leadership! We have residency programs in everything and they are across the board all very strong so that has been really helpful. I have pretty niche interests and I have had access to lots of mentors who are eager to take students under their wings.

I obviously didn't go here before the changes made, but from talking to alumni it seems like it lived up much more to the "malignant" reputation then than it does now. I haven't experienced any other schools, but from talking to friends at other schools we seem pretty much on par. Every school is going to have their share of gunners, especially in such a big school. Most people tend to make a small group of friends and there are lots of opportunities to meet them, particularly the colleges system (though half my friend group are in different colleges than mine!)

Do you have any specific questions I can answer about the school? My DMs are always open as well!

FYI, the accepted students zoom call has 133 people in it rn. I'm guessing around 120-125 are actual admits, rest are current students/staff. So < 1/3 of the total As have gone out (based on the post II sheet, 388 were offered As last year. Also, this is a conservative estimate since not everyone could attend the call ofc...also yields might be wonky this year since people might be attending more interviews...so possibly even a smaller proportion of As have been sent out!).

Could you ask those 133 students what their stats are? Asking for a friend.

First of all congratulations on receiving an II ! Once you receive a II , than it's you and your performance during the interview that counts.
If your interview went well, then you should expect your interviewer to bat for you during the Adcom meeting. Good Luck !
I don't think interviewers are in the adcom meeting.

Got a II a few weeks ago.. not sure if this is a pipe dream for me with a LizzyM of ~65 nontrad, URM and much lower stats than average for UTSW on MSAR. Does anyone know of any low stat matriculant success stories? Don’t want to get my hopes up.

Congrats on your II! By receiving an II, the Ad Com already felt that your stats initially met their minimum requirements for a matriculant. Now, just go crush your upcoming interview to help your application soar as high in the applicant rankings as possible.

Wow you guys are so encouraging! Thank you so much for the vote of confidence!

They dont waste interview slots if they are not serious about your candidacy.

Wait you got an acceptance last week?? We were all here waiting for acceptances thinking they didn't send any last week

I have a 510+ mcat but a sub 125 cars score. good clinical and research hours. I haven't received an ii. Is the school done sending out ii? what are the chances i receive an invite based on my stats.?
please pm me if you have some insights on what i should do. I am worried about retaking and reapplying.

I would hope that any applicant goes into an application cycle without the mentality of UTSW or bust. It's a great school and very competitive. We all just have to wait unfortunately. My guess is by this point, the only II's offered will be on short notice as fill-ins for cancellations. UTSW's last interview date is sometime mid-January, and they were offering up those interview dates a few weeks ago. 🙁

Regardless, here's to hoping for another wave of II's, maybe they held out a little bit to consider all applications that were completed before 11/15.

Do we think they’re done sending II this cycle?
