Any tips for the interview process? It's fully virtual now and a 2.5 hr session. The info they put out on the website is more applicable to the onsite interviews. Just wondering if there's any feedback you can share!
Honestly I don’t think it being virtual makes it that different than in person. Really try to reset between stations- I had a few not so great stations & I think being able to reset after each is what saved me (of course at the end of the day I couldn’t stop thinking about the ones I didn’t think went well but at least get through the interview day before obsessing). Besides that just know yourself & know your app (because it’s closed-file you can choose what you want to share). And be yourself! They’re trying to get to know who you are as a person. Best of luck! 🙂

I think this is great advice. I've done 3 MMIs this cycle, and I've definitely had my blunders. I really believe that having a short-term memory -- forgetting about your mistakes and just moving onto the next station -- is critical. It prevents one bad station from shattering your entire interview experience.

I second everything said. You never know how well you’re doing in the moment haha. Just be yourself and you will definitely shine through. I didn’t get the impression they were ever trying to trick me and I ended up forgetting all the prep I did and started speaking my responses like I would with a friend. And I got accepted yesterday for what it’s worth.

Anyone know if this school accepts updates?

They said in today's interview that you can send them, but only the admissions office will see it, those on the committee would not be passed on that information.

Any details on the scheduling that you can provide relative to how much time MMI vs how much time is a student panel etc?

Interviewed Sept 14 and waiting to hear if I got the axe or not is killing me as this is my top school! Those that have been accepted, what was your choice for campus location? Did you choose prefer or only?

I chose prefer and got my preference.

ii this morning OOS complete 10/4

Do people have any information regarding the Burlington vs CT campuses? I have read up on their website and they list many pros for both. Are there cons to not being on the main Burlington campus? I know we have to choose one after the interview so I wanted to start looking into which I might find a better fit. I live in NY near the CT campus sites, but I don't know the cons of not being in Burlington, if any. Could it hurt to be at community teaching hospitals rather than an academic center? Any information would be helpful!!

I'm also really curious about this. If a current student or someone with more information could chime in that'd be greatly appreciated!

Too late to submit secondary? Received it early September but two full-time jobs have really limited the time I could dedicate to writing. Will submit regardless as it’s definitely one of my top choices- just would like to know how negatively I will be affected by this timeline. Heard mixed opinions given COVID & whatnot, especially since schools are each at a unique place in their review process.

It's definitely on the later end of secondary submissions even with COVID, but it's still worth a shot if this is a top choice of yours!

I would agree it is on the later end to submit, but it also seems like Vermont goes through applications faster than most schools. I saw someone who submitted the first week of October get an II last week. So just make sure you do well on Casper since they probably do an automatic screen with that initially and have a quality response to the secondary. They genuinely do a holistic review as I have been accepted and was complete late August. So all hope is definitely not lost. Good luck!

What's the vibe like at LCOMmunity conversations? Business casual or not (can I wear scrubs)? Everyone with video on?

I'd say most people have business casual/professional on for LCOMmunity conversations (at least the one I went to a few weeks ago). Everyone has their video on and they sorted us into breakout rooms for the first hour for a small group discussion of 4-5 people (at least for my specific breakout room).

Ooo how do we access these LCOMmunity conversations? I must 've missed them!

Oh gotcha, guess I'll have to wait for the week before interview!

Yep! They'll send an email with more details on what it'll look like, but it's essentially a time for a small group discussion with current medical students and then a student panel to address interviewee questions. It lasted around 2 hours for my cohort.

Anyone else interview 9/14 and have yet to hear back? It's seriously killing me I want this A so bad lol

Would anyone who has interviewed already mind confirming about how long the interview day is? I know UVM is saying about 2.5 hours but just wanted to make sure as I plan my workday around it. Thanks so much! 🙂

Is anyone interviewing next week? If so have you received the week before update email yet?

Thanks!

Anyone interviewing next week hear anything back yet regarding additional information? Kind of worried that the interview is next week, and if there's additional things to fill out...

Everything you need to do prior to the interview is in the interview tab on your portal. After the interview they email you with other things to fill out like campus preference!

Ah thanks! That's really reassuring, I'm guess I'm just anxious I haven't heard back with regards to a schedule next week then!

no one has received a complete email post-secondary, right? just going through my portals now and realized I never got a complete email from here even though my portal has been marked complete since 9/10

Is it better to schedule an interview as early as possible or does it not matter?
