2020-2021 Vermont

For those who have interviewed already, how far in advance of your interview date did you receive a zoom link/additional meeting details? I'm interviewing on Wed and received a date confirmation email, but haven't gotten a link or any other info yet and don't see it in the Interview tab, so I wasn't sure if I should be concerned and email
I interview on Wed too and am in the same boat, no zoom link.

Ok I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one haha - I'd been worried that I may have somehow missed something, but maybe it's just because of the holiday last week? I did email admissions to ask if I should have received an email with more details and can keep you posted!

Awesome, ty! I’ll probably email them tonight as well and I’ll do the same.

Hmm I would definitely check in.... I interviewed a few weeks ago and I remember it taking a while before the zoom link was sent out.

for those who interviewed, are thank you letters just sent to the admissions email?

You can send a general thank you letter to the admissions email. I asked them after I interviewed and they said I could send a general thank you note since they will not give you the individual emails of your MMI interviewers.

Would OOS people who have interviewed and heard back mind telling me generally how long it took? Thanks so much! 🙂

Anyone else who interviewed in September not heard anything back? Will we eventually hear about WL/Rs?
Here here. Sept 14, absolute silence. I contacted admissions bc I have an A at another school that requires a deposit mid December. But I still really want VT but can't afford to pay a school a bunch of money I'm not going to go to. Anyway, she said I could hear "anywhere between January and April" so that wasn't super helpful haha

UPDATE ON THE GROUP CHAT! They finally replied to my email today saying it was totally okay to start a group chat for the c/o 2025. Here’s the group me link:

You're invited to my new group 'UVM LCOM c/o 2025' on GroupMe. Click here to join:

im not sure if there’s a way to do this, but if anyone wants to pin the link to the thread, please do! Excited to meet and talk with y’all.

also, there’s apparently a Facebook group for the c/o 2025 that they informed me about in the email for anyone that’s interested. I’m gonna look for it now

Curious - how many people that have gotten the A chose only VT campus v. prefer VT?

Anyone that has interviewed with Vermont already cool with me PMing you about the interview. Nothing about stuff you can't disclose of course but just about advice for prepping for MMI and like how it goes. Thanks!!!

Really? Some OOS students that interviewed earlier in the cycle already heard back. I interviewed 11/13 and they told us that OOS could hear back any time from the end of November until sometime next year.

Yea I interviewed early November and heard the same time frame for OOS students!

I think you got it backwards. It’s been a while since I interviewed but I remember it was IS applicants who needed to wait at least until the end of the year. Most accepted students in this thread are OOS
Accepted OOS students heard back, but if you weren't accepted OOS (at least in their initial fall rounds of acceptances) it would be after the new year until you got a decision. There's been other OOS interviewees in this thread that have asked admissions when they might hear back and they've been told Jan-April. I think that's why people are getting confused/mixed up--the group of accepted OOS students heard back first, then next appears to be the non-rolling IS applicants (in December iirc from interview), then sometime next year the OOS students with no decision will probably hear back. It was a little misleading at the interviews because they explicitly said OOS would hear back before IS, which isn't true for many OOS applicants.

I don't think they've sent any post-II rejections or WLs yet

Makes sense. I interviewed early October and was accepted 20 days later. They have probably changed what they’re telling for OOS/IS acceptances now to adjust to their new timelines.

The one thing that I think everyone on this thread keeps missing is the fact that they accept in terms of descending stats order. So the interview date is not nearly as relevant as your stats. It is not true that everyone who interviews has the same chance at acceptance (the interview is just one of the many data points they are collecting for when the whole committee reviews your specific file and makes a decision).

The higher your stats, regardless of the interview date, is the descending order of priority given when they offer acceptances. This is much more important than the OOS and IS confusion that persists on this thread. To reiterate what someone else already said and clarify that ongoing confusion:

They did clearly state since I wrote it down right when they said it, in response to this exact question, "When will we receive our decision?" (This was an interview date in October). Their response was clear, and I quote: "IS will hear back in December, OOS will hear back "around" Thanksgiving."

This may be true as evidenced by a few OOS applicants who posted on here that they heard by Thanksgiving (but look at their stats, they were sky high (Lizzy M 75 or so). Those who are OOS who heard back around Thanksgiving were those with very high stats since that is the highest priority for this or any other school. For everyone else with slightly lower stats, just have to be patient and wait for your files to come up for review by the ADCOM.

PS: If someone more recently was told that they would hear between January-April, that is still consistent with the claim above, since those who will hear back in January (who interviewed this fall) will be those with (you guessed it), the higher stats, and descending on down the list until those in April who hear back will be those with the lowest stats. Ultimately, their numbers will most likely stay consistent from last year, since that has been the trend for the last several years, so if you're within that range of current matriculants, your chances are good, if not now, at most by the end of the cycle in April.

Good luck to everyone applying!

Did they say they accept in descending stats order during your interview? When I interviewed they just told us they prioritize IS vs OOS at this point in the year

I would say it's less about actual "stats" and more about the "score" each applicant receives after holistic review, which probably includes a medley of things like fit to school, ECs, PS, interview etc along with their stats. I don't know how they'll handle their IS applicants, but the above poster was just saying that for OOS interviewees it seems like they're only sending acceptances right now to applicants with the highest "total scores" post interview (who not surprisingly also happen to have good numerical stats too), and waiting to give decisions for the rest of OOS applicants until later next year (which has caused the decision date for OOS applicants to follow a descending order of scores).

I am a little confused why Vermont hasn't sent any rejections or even WLs to students who are on the lower end of their scoring system right now, but I guess they just want more time to vet other applicants/interviewees before making any final decisions. Will be interesting to see if they reject any IS students in December.

This doesn't seem right. I'm OOS and was accepted on 11/20 after a 10/06 interview. Perhaps it depends on when an OOS student interviewed?
Has absolutely no bearing on when you interviewed. I interviewed SEPTEMBER 14, am OOS, and have not heard a decision. I called admissions and all they told me was I was very unlikely to hear in December, that it would be anytime between January and April.

UVM seems to be notorious for long, brutal post II wait times and seemingly nonsensical decision timelines. For anyone that's interviewed, just buckle up. You could be waiting a very long time based on what I and others have experienced this year as well as others have in previous years based on previous threads.

That's fair. It sounds like their post-II process is fairly opaque and not consistent even though we're both OOS. Hopefully you hear back on the earlier part of that timeframe!

Yeah that's the vibe lol. I've stalked past years thread and there's been a similar pattern of people not hearing for several months while those who interviewed much later heard back much sooner. This is happening to me at PSU so I've finally just kind of stopped thinking about it for now lol
