wtf interesting. 509/3.8 here, SES disadvantaged, FAP recipient. Big mission fit and have lived in Boston for 7 years. fourth quartile casper. not yet rejected????
I believe Boston cares more about fit than anything else. I wouldn't worry too much about stats if your experiences and career goals align with their mission statement.

This thread is giving me anxiety, especially after the R I got this morning from Pritzker. Maybe this is a sign to get off of SDN. I just hope they give an IS app some love.

I got the R a couple days ago from Pritzker and I'm still holding on here, I feel ya... Just waiting for them to see my app and hit the big red 'Reject' button

I'm sure you did nothing wrong. As I commented in response to another post, BU is a notorious low yield school.

You simply cannot beat yourself up for failing to get through its screen, even though it isn't T20. It's a very popular school in a very popular city, and it receives a disproportionate level of love from premeds. An R from a low yield school (BU, Georgetown, Jefferson, Tulane, etc.) is not a leading indicator of anything, other than we either need to readjust our expectations or learn to stay away from low yield schools.

Also rejected (top quartile Casper / 52X / 3.9X). The email was really nice, though! Just happy to have gotten an II before this lol

Does alma mater count as a personal connection to the school?

As in, BU is your alma mater?
yes, i attended undergrad there, do I state that as my connection? the fact that it was asking for department/ name made me think they might. be asking for family ties?

just as an fyi, my friend who attended BU as an undergrad/grad student left that blank and is currently a student at BUSM.

Random, does anyone know if the linkage programs guarantees acceptance to BUSM?
The medical masters program (MAMS) doesn't guarantee admission or even an interview to BU.
There are about 180 MAMS students each year and of these, here's a quote from BUSM MAMS page:

How many students from the Medical Sciences Program matriculate into medical school?

Of the graduates who apply to a medical school, approximately 70% are admitted into medical schools in the U.S.; usually 25-30 students are accepted into Boston University School of Medicine each year. Most of the graduates who do not apply to medical school continue their careers in other medical science professions.

That being said, ace the MAMS grades for a better chance here or elsewhere.

I have been spending time with the current M1's, and a solid chunk of students were from MAMS - but they had to seriously bust their asses to get in. Pretty heavy coursework (akin to first year of medical school), but graded rather than P/NP. The few I talked to also had 3.0-3.5 undergrad GPA, (but ~4.0 in MAMS) so it seems like it is an excellent second-chance program

This is true! MAMS is significantly more difficult than the actual M1 curriculum as you are taking courses at the same time (instead of one at a time) and you are graded and in a competition against your classmates to get into BUSM.

And on top of that, you need to still get a 515 or above on your MCAT. It's really hard for us to get in if we don't get a 515+ even though our MAMS GPA is basically a 4.0

Much respect to all of you in MAMS. Best of luck - my classmates who came from MAMS have been some of the most impressive people I've met.

is it a bad idea to submit primary here if people are already getting rejected?

What does that have to do with anything? TBH, people are already getting rejected EVERYWHERE. It's just that most schools are not as forthcoming as BU, and they will ghost these people for varying lengths of time. In fact, it's the irrational fear of this that causes people to freak whenever they hear that someone who was complete later, with lower stats, received an II while they still haven't heard.

But, rest assured, every file that has been looked at has been placed in a Yes, No or Maybe pile for an II. Of course, most files have not yet been looked at, but most schools have started their reviews, and every school that has started its review has started placing people in the No pile.

That said, why would that stop you from applying anywhere? Someone else being rejected has absolutely nothing to do with how your application will be perceived.

I am wondering if I should apply here now or wait until my recent MCAT score is available... I'm a nontraditional applicant but my last MCAT attempt (over a year and a half ago) is a 506. I expect absolutely nothing from this school as it is super super low yield anyway but my practice MCAT's were on the higher side and I i know they favor the last 30 credits of GPA which would be 4.0 for me (from a master's degree which I heard they like to see).

TL;DR should I apply now with my current MCAT (506) or wait for the new one (hoping for a 518) in hopes I don't get screened out?

I don't think it matters. If you tell them to wait for another score, they most likely will, and you won't be screened out, or even reviewed at all for that matter. OTOH, if it takes too long to come in, you just might find yourself passed over altogether. When are you expecting it?

This seems more like a questions for an adviser rather than SDN, but here are my thoughts:

It completely depends on your circumstance. Are you applying to other schools this cycle? If you are, and you can afford another app, then sure. Apply. What do you have to lose, other than $45 primary + $110 secondary fees? If you are not applying to any other schools this cycle, I would ask why are you wasting your time and money only applying to one school?

If your question is simply "should I apply now with no score or wait until I have a score," the answer is a resounding "apply now without your score." Submitting your primary app later in the cycle hurts your chances of getting in. Apply now and if your score is great - awesome! You increased your chances of getting in. If your score is bad and you apply now - bummer. Your odds of getting in are still greater than if you do not apply at all.
Appreciate your input. I am applying to multiple schools! the downside of applying without the new score is that if they review it with the old score I will definitely be screened out lol trying to avoid that.

I applied here with a lower MCAT score and indicated on my app that I’m retaking on the 27th and my app is on hold until they receive my new mcat score if that helps!

I think we just have to be patient, my friend who interviewed here last year said that they didn't get their II until early Sept. for a late Sept. interview date

How's the turn around time between submissions and rejections/interview invites looking right now? I submitted on 07/31 but was marked as complete on 8/2. I'm just waiting to get rejected since it seems like everyone is getting rejected. I did a lot of community service and oriented my application towards service and health equity rather than being a top tier research school applicant.

So, my primary just got verified the other day, and I am finishing up my secondary to BU, and I had a quick question about the core competency part. I am non-traditional applicant who was a humanities major, and I have lots of credits. If I just list my humanities courses, it is over the 600 charcters limit, even with judicious use of abbreviations and cutting a few out. Am I expected to be able to list all my courses? Or did people only put some of them? I was fine listing everything for the other sections, even in Biology, which I basically have done a second major in.

I also did a research paper on a humanities topic and I wasn't sure if I should cut even more courses out, in order to list it, since it isn't anywhere else in my application.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Edited for typos

I'm also a humanities major and I basically just listed all of the courses I could fit within the char limit. I figured they could just look at my transcript if they were curious about my other humanities credits and it would be obvious that those also met the core competencies
