For Q2 of the essay prompts, do you guys think it would be frowned upon/reflect poorly on me if I genuinely talked about how this situation has never really occurred to me because of my mindset (i.e. I do things without thinking about outcomes or how it will help me long-term, so I never look back and think "I deserved to get X" when someone else gets X and I just take it as a sign that I need to improve in ABC way.) I honestly can't think of any examples that would fit this prompt, but I'm afraid that it would be viewed as a cop-out answer.
I personally would NOT respond that way. This is meant to be a hard question.
I'm a reapplicant, so I wrote about how ~I know~ that I would be a great med student, even though I didn't get in. and the steps I took to ensure my application was better this year.

Thanks for the input! I did feel like this approach was "iffy" to begin with, so I feel better knowing that my doubts are not unfounded.

Anyone not answering the last option question about if there is anything you want them to know? If you are answering it what are you talking about?

For English courses and the syllabus, they want class syllabus? The only thing I can find is a really old document the professor gave us for the class but it is super informal, it says syllabus but legit has no header or anything with readings for each week. any advice what to do?

You only need to submit a syllabus if the class you are using to fill the writing/English req. was not in the English department. But if you do need to submit a syllabus, I would think that if it says 'syllabus' on it then it's ok. Maybe look for something that has a list of your assignments to show that it was a writing-intensive class. You could send them an email to double-check, but I assume they would reach out to you if they didn't think your syllabus was good enough

Okay thanks yeah it wasn't my school has "First-year writing seminars" , and mine was technically in the history department. All I have is this:

Do you think a course taken in the writing dept requires a syllabus? My school didn't have general writing intensive courses in the English dept, the typical sequence was 2 courses from the writing dept.

I think you kind of have to use your judgment but to me writing dept seems fine. I would think they would want a syllabus from classes that aren't obviously writing intensive from like the history, soc, religion depts, etc. but that filled your undergrad writing req. You can always email them to ask for clarification or include it just in case if you are unsure.

Yeah, good idea. Thank you!

There is no complete email, correct? Everything on my portal is marked as complete and it says "Your application is ready!"

Yes I think they want us to think outside the box a little bit. I wrote about how I spent months working out with my buddies and they all hit 225 bench press before me and how I felt like I deserved it at the time

Is anyone still waiting on secondary invites? My AMCAS primary application was verified on 7/9 and I still have not received Netter's secondary! I am an OOS applicant.

OOS primary was sent 7/14, should I be worried I haven't gotten the secondary email yet?

Nah, I didn’t get mine until 7/9 and my app transmitted on the first day. You’re chillin 😎

Thank you! I saw a horror story on Reddit about an AMCAS error not sending someone's primary to a school so I wanted to check in haha

I’d give it a couple weeks before you start to worry! I’m trying to tell myself to be patient no matter how hard it is.

Can anyone who has attended this school or knows more about it speak to how good it is if you want to match into competitive specialties? A cursory glance at their match page and it seems mid-tier. Coupled with the fact that it's new, I'm not sure if I should apply here.

If you have worked while enrolled as a full-time student, how many hours per week did you work on average and for how many years?

For this question, does this count research too?

I believe it's referring more to paid employment like part-time jobs. If your research was paid then yes, but if it was something you made time for without any compensation then I don't think research counts. That's how I interpreted it.

I'm a bit confused, do medical schools have access to primaries before they're verified? Because Quinnipiac sent me a secondary the day I was verified and I thought they screened first. Is this not a good sign? I know that my stats are low but I don't want to give up hope.

Some schools can retrieve the info of everyone who has applied, verified or not, and sends them a secondary. GW does the same thing. I have no idea if Quinnipiac screens or not, but I can't imagine that they do if you got it before you got verified. I would not give up hope, but I would also not see this as a sign to get your hopes up.

Hello,

On the Quinnipiac website it says that 3 letters of recommendations are required, however, on the supplemental portal it says four.

Could anyone let me know how many letters are required minimum?

Thank you!

is anyone not submitting the last optional question, the theme song question or do you think it is one of those questions that is optional but "not optional"? lol

Were we suppose to receive a complete email? I submitted on 7/13 and never got a complete email or any follow-up communication.
