Yes, there was one interview date for Feb 3.
Hey do you know how the interview format will be? I also received an II yesterday for the GHAC, complete end of July, interview scheduled for end of January. It said clearly in the email MMI format, but on the application it said the GHAC interviews would be traditional interviews, so I’m a bit confused. Also are we only considered for GHAC or also the regular MD pool as well?

Congrats! Looking at last year's thread, it seems like interviewees for PRIME didn't get a separate interview. There are mentions of a GHAC mixer, but not of a separate interview. So I'm really not sure either!

I do know we are also considered for the regular MD pool, because I have a friend who interviewed for GHAC but was accepted regular MD.

Great, this was super helpful thanks for sharing! If you don’t mind could you ask your friend if the GHAC interview format was MMI?

If so, it seems like it’s just a regular interview day, but we’ll be considered for both the GHAC + regular MD.

Apparently GHAC interview happens only after admission to regular MD, but this was pre-COVID, so I’m not sure things are the same.

pre-II hold received earlier today 🙂 complete late august, IS URM

Hey yall. This is my 3rd time applying to UCSD. The last 2 times I got WLed, after getting the II early Dec and interviewing in mid-Feb. This year I haven’t heard back from them. I think they interview until late Feb (don’t quote me). I’m grateful that I at least have an A at another school this cycle!

Their website says they don’t accept letters of intent. But should I email them something like “Hey, I was WLed 2x before, and I learned a lot about UCSD. Even though I'm accepted at other schools, UCSD is still my top choice?"

Submitted mid-Sept this cycle, IS, Disadvantaged App.

At this point, you have nothing to lose since you already have an acceptance. If I was writing the letter of intent I would explain why UCSD will make you the best physician and how you can enrich their program. Also, point out your acceptance and state why you want UCSD more. Good luck!

Hey! I submitted my secondary app on October 1st and have not heard back yet about getting an interview. does this mean im most likely going to get a rejection email? I feel as though no news at this point may be bad news?

It seems like they’re going in chronological order and they’ve only gotten to secondaries complete in august. Wouldn’t give up yet!

It looks like they're releasing II's in batches. The recent batches included people that were complete in August through the end of September. I was complete on 9/23/21 and just heard back recently so you may hear back soon. I wouldn't lose hope yet.

A little late but II last Wednesday!

IS, ORM, LM 78, complete end of September. Earliest date was early Feb.

Withdrawing my interview spot here, I hope someone gets one! Good luck on all your journeys 🙂

im proud of healthcareforall123 for knowing what he/she wants, and giving others the chance to be considered and move forward in their educational career and future.

I am an accepted applicant (16 interviews, 9 acceptances as of December 20, 2021). I have only held a single spot at a time because I decided between the schools I wanted to go to and eliminated any “” SPOT”” I am holding at other places. (Including Secondary apps and II).

I am sad/disappointed to read in many – MANY threads on other schools where pre-meds are just accumulating IIs and As. Hence, by default, robbing the future of other applicants who some of which might be depressed, in debt, or have familial pressures to “matriculate this year.”

I truly hope that for anyone who is holding multiple spots Secs/II/A/WL and he/she know for a fact they’re not going to attend, PLEASE GIVE OTHERS THE CHANCE to move forward in their educational career.

Remember why you started pursuing this career. It is to help others. This answer might be too simple and cliche, but it is to make a difference in people’s lives. Start with your future colleagues, friends, and potential family.

Aside from this, I wish you all the best of luck and I hope you have the most prosperous cycle!!

Amen!! We all gotta support each other in this rough journey together

Last year the earliest i seen someone removed from hold to get an interview was 01/22.
just want to say, as someone who is also on hold for an interview, my friend who is currently an M1 was on hold last year got an interview in March and is now attending UCSD.

All I will comment on their stats is that they were average and IS.

Hope that gives all of us a little hope. 😎

Has anyone here successfully expressed a preference to the admissions office about being placed in one of the interview groups for the day? I know it’s typically supposed to be randomized but I was wondering if it’s possible to do so since I may have a conflict for one of the group times 🙁

Was wondering the same thing. Living out of country rn and would prefer not to interview at 3am. I don't think there's any harm in emailing and seeing how they respond.

Edit: They kindly accommodated my group time request.

Fellow waitlisted ppl… since there haven’t been any post-II R’s reported here, anyone else suspect that they don’t give post-II R’s and put everyone post-II who doesn’t get an A on the waitlist or is SDN just skewed?

Thought the same thing…

If we received the email that they where not inviting us for a secondary for UCSD SOM, is that different than PRIME? or is it a no for both?
Most likely both. You have to be accepted to the SOM first, then later in the cycle they let you know if you’re accepted to PRIME. Sorry for the bad news 🙁

For those of you that interviewed already how many days before your interview did you get your zoom link ?

I'm currently scheduled to interview on Tuesday and still haven't received anything.
