Just got an email from UWSOM that they forgot to add the pre-clin site to the secondary app for WA residents. Just resubmitted. Anyone know the relative competitiveness of the Seattle vs Spokane site?
I heard Spokane was less competitive from one person, but then I heard somewhere else that Spokane got more WA applicants because housing is cheaper there. LOL. I’d honestly go with the place you could see yourself living.

Has anyone else still not received their state residence verification? I'm still waiting and have seen nothing. The email for the secondary told me that an email would be sent to me with the verification, but it's been a couple of weeks, and still nothing.

It was on 8/23! So 1 week from mission fit -> R. It's all good, it was my first rejection and only school I didn't get a secondary from so I have many more heartbreaks to come haha. Good luck!
Thanks! I also just got my rejection. Best of luck to you again!

Pre-secondary R today! I submitted the mission statement questions last week but they said I didn't meet the criteria for further consideration. I am low-SES FAP recipient disadvantaged so I'm not sure how I don't meet the non-WWAMI screening criteria but oh well! Good luck everyone else 🙂
Same, and I believed I qualified as well! Oh well! I guess they have super high standards for OOS applicants?

Is there anyone else who is a financially independent student and currently attending an undergraduate institution out of state? I grew up in WA, voted in WA, and maintained my WA driver's license, but will not be living in WA for 12 months prior to 2022 matriculation because of my undergraduate education. Does this automatically disqualify me for WA residency because I am independent? My parents have lived in WA for 15+ years but essentially made me pay for everything when I attended university, so I cannot claim dependency, unfortunately.

Bruh just file dependent for 2021, IRS isn't going to audit you.

Have other WWAMI students submitted their secondaries without residency verification? I know that my state school has received my verification and informed me that they would be sending it to UW, but it is still marked incomplete on my application.

That would work if I apply next year but I already filed taxes for 2020 as an independent and that's the tax return they ask for in the residency verification for this cycle. Hopefully, this will help someone who is applying next cycle and in a similar situation.

Im going to email the residency office and see if there is any hope.

I don’t think that undergraduate education counts. Do you pay out of state tuition? Or would you? I lived out side WA for one year and didn’t have a problem. You should be able to prove it was for education.

Did you have a non-WA driver's license or file taxes in another state?

I have a WA license but I worked at my university, so I had to pay taxes out of state. I'll fill out the residency questionnaire and hope things go well. I have dreamed of going to UWSOM since I was in 3rd grade so I hope it works out!

anyone has any idea when the new class 2021 stats will be updated?

Lurking E21 here. Last year they were updated some time late Autumn or early in the winter quarter. I want to say they were updated before I interviewed in early December, but I do know for a fact they were updated before February. You could maybe scroll through previous years' SDN pages to find it.

Yeah I wanted to know how stats are due to covid and if it was more lean

Who knows when they start sending out interview invites especially for IDAHO WAAMMI?

Got hit with the pre-secondary R last week. First R so that was rough, but I guess it was a long shot since I'm OOS and out of WWAMI region. Good luck to everyone else!! 🙂

They told us they had a nearly 25% increase in applications and that it was their most competitive applicant pool ever. Nationwide, med schools received tens of thousand more applications than they ever have. My guess is that it was due to them not requiring thw mcat, which they are doing again this year.

Was this also pre-mission statement?

Does anyone know when they might start sending IIs out? Just wondering because the website says they start interviewing the week of October 4th for the Seattle campus.

I read that, too, and was surprised—last year they sent out the secondary around this time and invites didn’t go out until the 5th of October.

For those who submitted a Residency Affidavit for residency verification (WA IS), how long did it take for your state residency verification to be marked complete? I submitted the affidavit on 8/27/21 (and got a verification email) and have yet to see it marked as complete on the Application Portal. I reached out to the Office of Admissions, but I have yet to get a response on the matter. Thanks!

Received UW's secondary 9/17, WWAMI resident.

Will they start sending interview invites next month?

+1 Can you let me know what they end up saying? Was thinking about reaching out as well

So did they just assign you to the first Seattle week or can you pick?
-of the fourth of October I think
In my II email, they stated they would send a follow-up email ~2-3 weeks prior to my designated interview week with more info on scheduling and the agenda. I have yet to receive the follow-up email, but this makes it sound like they may assign applicants to specific interview weeks.

To those of you that have received interview invites, did a new "Application Category" appear saying "under review" a couple of weeks before you received your invite?

Hey guys! I'm still waiting on residency verification (WA resident), do we think that being "late" due to this wait will have much an impact? I'm assuming/hoping that most people are in the same boat as me so it kind of wont matter?? Also they only got around 800 completed secondaries last year so I'm thinking turnover should be fast once I am good to go. Should I be more worried lol
