What about October interviewees?
She did not mention October interviewees. I think the tentative February estimate is for those who interviewed in November or later.
WAIT WHAT?!?!!??! I interviewed on 10/1, they told me November, now its February!?!?!?!?!???!
I just…please don’t make promises to applicants that you can’t keep! I just think it’s unfair that premeds have to adhere to strict deadlines but schools do not show the same regard. If they had said February from the start I would understand. Sorry I’m just having a rough day and thought maybe I’d get some closure this week but guess not.
I agree this is ridiculous how hard can it be to make decisions when we have to go through so much more. Don’t tell applicants dates that you can’t adhere to when we are expected to adhere to dates…
From my understanding, they noted that there was a record-breaking amount of applications. Of course, I'm sure that every subsequent application cycle will have record-breaking numbers as more and more people apply. What was relayed to me was most likely for those who interviewed in November or later. I think the point they wanted to get across was that IS applications are currently taking priority and will hear back first. They estimate the turnaround time for OOS applicants who interviewed in November or later to be mid-February because of this.

Personally, I would rather a later inaccurate estimate. I would rather expect to hear back in February than expect to hear in December and then be disappointed once that month passes. However, it sounds like UVM historically goes through review rather quickly, so we may all be pleasantly surprised.

UPDATE: I asked their admissions office again about when to expect a decision as someone who interviewed 10/1 and they replied today saying “You should have an initial decision by the end of December.” I’m still annoyed about the inconsistency and straight up lies but I guess it’s better than waiting until Feb. Dunno if i should read in to the fact that they said “initial” decision on purpose (meaning I’m WL) or if that’s just the usual corporate doublespeak.

Thanks for posting this... I think its corporate doublespeak. 🙂

II received just now! OOS ORM, complete 07/10. I'll be withdrawing from this one, and hope it goes to one of y'all!

Edit: For those interested, there are still 4 interview dates for January, 4 for February, and 1 for early March.

Stats??
And thanks for withdrawing! Congrats on your other II and A’s future doctor!!

I was wondering if anyone has advice on preparing for the interview? This is my first and only II so I wanna kill it, but am pretty nervous about MMIs since I've never been through it before. I found a helpful post on reddit but would love to hear any additional advice/opinions.

Their MMI was mid-level stressful imo but only because I was expecting tough questions and got a lot of thought-provoking, open to interpretation style questions. They were all very nice so just be yourself and make sure you can articulate your thoughts well no matter your answer

Word of advice from someone who interviewed here twice. Vermont is NOTORIOUSLY slow for handing out decisions. If you work yourself up too much now, trust me youre gonna lose it this cycle. Its best to accept especially at Vermont, that its gonna take a while to make a decisions. I know its frustrating, but no amount of anger is gonna change the fact that they take their DAMN time to roll out the decisions.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! I was sweating thinking about how I was going to prep this weekend but sounds like it's more casper-esq. Sorry other random question, but did you get the zoom link like the day before the interview?

I can't honestly remember but it's a good idea to check your email and the portal the night before just in case

Got mine within the week before my interview! I would look out for multiple emails regarding the actual interview, the LCOMmunity convo, and another student ambassador panel.

Do we think that IS applicants will hear next week? Historically has been third week in December…

Did anyone receive an ambassador hangout email? I received one saying that I should attend a session that is closest to my interview date but I never received an interview invite. Is this a generic email that everyone receives?

I didn't receive this email until after I received an interview invitation a couple months ago. Check your portal maybe you got one or are going to soon!
