omg I am so sorry. I barely interviewed a week ago and am super anxious, the wait is killing me so I can't imagine how you're getting through it!!! They're really taking their time 😳 Wishing for an A for you these holidays!

Thank you! You too. If you look at the portal, they say it can take up to 8 weeks. Although I really think it varies based on when people have been reporting on this threat.

Yes, I saw that it can take up to 8 weeks, but I am secretly hoping it won't. In the meantime, trying to develop some good coping mechanisms so I am not spending so much time being anxious about this decision!

Is anyone still waiting for an interview decision and its been past 8 weeks since interview?

Are there any current med students at GW who I can ask questions to? Thanks!

Feel like there are a good number of people approaching 8 weeks post-interview if not already passed. My tingly senses tell me the next batch of decisions is coming soon.

Also interesting to note is that in previous years, the turnaround time was usually 2-3 weeks, but this year it seems to be at minimum 4-5 weeks. Fastest turnaround I've seen this year was a little over 3 weeks, but it's also technically "4 weeks" if we're counting the full weeks.

Understaffed I’m sure

For those getting pre-II R’s after being put on hold, did y’all get emails? I never got an email when I was put on hold so just wondering!

Not sure. What's weird is a few people interview a day after than me (10/14) and already heard back at 4-5 weeks. So really not sure how they are deciding in what order to make decisions after interviews.

There probably isn't a decision order. If anything, that sounds to me like they can't make up their mind on whether to accept you or put you on the WL, and they continue to compare your file with newer interviewees.

Hoping for the best for you and everyone else waiting.

Not sure if we will ever know the rationale. I do know the people that heard back 4-5 weeks were WL (at least on sdn). I also know that people heard back within a month and were accepted and/ or waitlisted.

You will get an email if you get the R with the title "GW status" and a text body indicating that they cannot offer you a place in the class this coming year.

Hold for this school doesn't really mean much and is probably why they don't email you. It's just a transparent way for them to tell you they that they got to your app.

I'd guess the majority of applicants invited for an interview come off a hold.

For sure. There isn't any rhyme to it.

This is one of the most frustrating parts and I wish there was more transparency. But just a guess, they could have some sort of voting system and if you’re a tie or they can’t decide, they might put you into the next interview pool and vote again. They might be meeting once a month which is why it’s 4-8 weeks wait.

Yeah honestly not even sure how the admission process works so hard to even say, but for people where its been beyond 8 weeks that's what confuses me because on the portal it says up to 8 weeks.

When did people get their interview times? Mine is two weeks out and not scheduled yet, is that normal?

Yes it is, I didn't get the specific time until 2 days before - they usually give you the time frame before, though, and then you get a 30 min slot somewhere in that frame.
You can also ask ahead of time to see if they can give you a preferred time slot. I work FT and asked for the earliest slot so I could still go into work after and not miss out on too much of my day.
