I’ve gotten 3 invites for secondary apps. I know deadline is dec1. Do y’all think it’s still worth submitting?

Were people today able to upload two separate thank you letters to each of their interviewers, or are we only allowed to upload one letter addressing them?

Last year you could upload separate thank you's

For anyone that has interviewed already for the Milwaukee location, are the interviews open or closed filed?

Time for my monthly offer of advice: if you have any questions about the MKE location, MCW in general, or med school, feel free to DM me or post on here! With MCW rolling out the new curriculum next year I dont have all the details about what your coursework will look like compared to mine, but I can answer things as best as I can. Best of luck to those with II's, and for those without just hold on and wait it out. You'll end up where you belong even if it takes a few cycles.

What do you think of the new curriculum? Im also kind of bummed that we need to start in July rather than August... I wanna squeeze in time for leisure before diving straight into hell

Honestly, I feel like I'd enjoy the new curriculum from what limited exposure I've had to it. Implementing a standardized syllabus that has boards material and less "fluff" that we've had to deal with this year would be fantastic. Don't get me wrong, I've learned a lot, but theres been plenty of extraneous info that we've been tested on that will never show up again until you get really specialized in residency. So that would be great. Plus, new students can use AnKing anki cards to their full potential since the coursework will cover the material that deck is built off of. I was an anki slave during the MCAT but haven't been able to use it effectively here yet because of how not-standardized the info has been. So I'm going to envy the incoming class in that regard.

As for July, yeah its a pain but honestly you'll be fine. This is still pass/fail, and you'll have plenty of free time M1 year. Ive taken multiple vacations, done weekend trips to see friends, played in IM sports once school started, race, and have read multiple books this semester. And I am NOT a whiz at the material--I procrastinated until the last second, triage material, prioritize free time to keep myself balanced and sane, and milk that pass/fail for everything I can get. Plus, next year you will have so many more resources with the standardized material than we have, so it will be easier in that regard. So yeah, july may be inconvenient, but starting in August after doing absolutely nothing all summer felt a little late IMO. Just take a couple months to really get settled and do absolutely nothing (if you are able), and then youll be very ready to start come summer.

(plus that earlier clinical exposure will be fantastic. I wish that was us, our fake practicals feel like I'm back in my middle school theatre club)

Thank you for your insight!!!

Just trying to make sure, is the new curriculum the Discovery curriculum or is something else? I couldn’t find anything mentioning a new curriculum on their website so just wanted to double check.

I believe it is the discovery curriculum. I think the next briefing on it is in January for those of us here that are interested, so until then I only have the bare bones details
Gotcha! The discovery curriculum is intriguing to me and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to move forward with MCW and receive an II from here. Hopefully good things will come soon!

I wonder if more II will go out
The latest II I heard go out last year was the first or second week of February

*edit: latest II that resulted in an acceptance was the first or second week of Feb. There could be more after that, and there could be more acceptances after that. All I know is one of my friends had an II early feb, interview early march, and an A shortly after.

The old curriculum is the Discovery curriculum. The new one is called Fusion.
You're correct! Current (old) curriculum is Discovery, new curriculum starting for new class is Fusion. Along with @hawkflock I'm an M1 at MCW-Milwaukee. Was lucky to have a few different acceptances and have not regretted coming here for a moment. I definitely think not having to worry about school/prof-specific "fluff" will be a big advantage the new class will have. Please feel free to DM or reach out if you have any questions 🙂

Hey y’all any insight for interviewing here? I have it in about a week 😅
Relax, bring snacks and water because the session is pretty much all day, practice a couple interviews to get rid of the jitters, bring some questions to ask students during the Q and A session (literally ask anything, from research to classes to personal life balance to pets to sports...the world is your oyster), and have fun! MCW was the best interview experience I had even though the 8 hour day completely drained me. Good luck!

Just did the interview today. Very chill, and everyone is super friendly. Just make sure to know your primary and secondary application well, as some questions can be pretty specific. Other than that, if you're from the West Coast lol, be sure to sleep early, drink something warm in the morning(maybe even take a hot shower), and have a warm blanket on your lap as the interview day starts at 8:10 AM CST or (6:10 AM Pacific).

Does anyone know the post-II acceptance rate? I saw that out of 800ish students who interviewed about 265 matriculated, but I’m sure they accept more but does anyone have this info?

I’ve heard it’s 1.5-2 times the amount of students that matriculate. So anywhere from 400-500 I’d assume.

hello all! I’m a current M1 and willing to help out with any of your questions! feel free to shoot some my way. i’m non trad too!

Is there a group chat for people admitted/WL'd for the central campus?
