II last night! completed 08/01, LM 77, OOS!

Where can I get more information about the interview style? Is it a traditional interview asking about yourself or like MMIs asking about random scenarios lol?
Any help would be appreciated!

Congrats!!!!
Those who interviewed already might be better to answer but from what I read it’s traditional and somewhat conversational style (mine is tomorrow)

Thank you! Good luck!!

If there's anything, I can do to recruit yall, or if you have any questions, please @ me 😉
just to go off of the last question -- for those of us who interviewed in the first few days (late august) and haven't heard back yet, is this normal? Just wondering if that's an inevitable R or if UCLA truly does only send out some As and save the rest for later?

Congrats!!!!

don't have any insight into the application status past our committee review. I don't have access to other committee members' voting results or the application's final voted status. From my understanding, after each committee member casts their votes, the application will be piled and ranked based on the voting results.
How many apps does the committee run through during each meeting? Do you vote on 5-10 applicants or around 50 applicants each meeting?

Can any students here speak on how frequent exams are? I know some schools are weekly or biweekly, is that the case here?

Current MS1 here. Our first “pit stop” consisted of 4 weeks of material. It appears that going forward future pit stops will cover 8 weeks of material.

We refer to pit stops as weeks in which we have several exams throughout one week. They follow a general guideline:

Monday: OSCE (basically a standardized patient interview)

Tuesday: Anatomy practical

Wednesday: 2 exams (1 based off lecture material and another that covers what’s known as foundations of practice). Happy to provide more info if needed.

About how long after interviewing does it take to hear back on average
A question for the ages! it seems like it depends. Based on SDN thread from previous years (not really a representative sample but meh) it seems like there have been admissions decisions released in small batches throughout oct/nov and then dec/jan is when bigger waves come. Anyone with better/verified info please feel free to chime in/correct me 🙂

Will add on that we have weekly self-assessments that you can use to gauge your progress during the block. We also have short quizzes each Friday during CBL that serves as pseudo extra credit on the pitstop exams.

Can someone pls tell me how much PREView matters. I scored really bad and I have an interview here this Friday. Advice is much appreciated.

Maybe lalala_the_moon_light has some info on the weight of PREview 😀

Any pre secondary R's yet? Never received a secondary here despite being from LA and receiving confirmation of receipt late June lol

Do they release decisions weekly/biweekly/monthly/etc.?

Based on last year thread, they release some As every 2 weeks, usually on Thursday or Friday. I could be wrong so if anyone notices a different trend pls correct me.

Also are UCLA exams on Wednesdays or do they vary?
UCLA exams are actually a week of exams (M-W) after each pit stop/block. A pit stop ranges from 4-8 weeks, depending on the topic. There's mini anatomy quizzes that only help you throughout the pit stop, a tiny quiz on Fridays that's really for extra credit, and non-scored self-assessments they provide if you want to test your knowledge for the week.

still waiting for a secondary response too.. hoping for the best! sending positive vibes your way
I don't want to give false information, but on DGSOM website with their application timeline, it says they review completed applications from July-November. Again I could be wrong but I think if they haven't sent a secondary by November it might be pass their deadline which would seem like a soft R. That being said, I'm sending good vibes and I hope I am wrong and everyone hears back with secondaries in hand.

hopefully this is helpful - found this via DGSOM website:

"How long should I expect to wait to know if I am receiving a secondary application/interview/offer?

We have a rolling admissions process, which means that every applicant’s timeline is different. As long as you haven’t received a decision, you are still in consideration as an applicant. It may be helpful to refer to our admissions timeline for a general overview of the year; however, your personal journey in the admissions process may fall outside of these guidelines. Please note, that we are unable to give timeline expectations outside of the general admissions timeline."

For those of you who interviewed, do you mind sharing what interview day is like?

Pretty low-key! I think they did a great job of pairing me up with interviewers who shared my interests, so the conversations were nice and free-flowing. I also enjoyed the time we had to meet other interviewees, as most other people on the interview day were very kind and had VERY diverse interests. All-in-all, a fairly low-stress, enjoyable day.

Has anyone who applied PRIME recieve an interview for the DGSOM traditional MD track? (I know PRIME hasn't sent out IIs yet)

How do you know this?
FAQ for the PRIME website says II for PRIME will be sent out early November last time I checked. From last year's thread, they seemed to have been delayed and gave II later than they initially expected. I heard from something who recently spoke with a PRIME staff member and they said it might be in December actually

Current student there, was in the cycle last year. Just letting you all know that many folks didn't receive a decision until way later (like February and on) even though they interviewed in September/October. I interviewed September, didn't get WL decision until April! Got the A 5/2 🙂 Classmate interviewed Sept, A in March. So it can be a long waiting game and does not indicate anything bad if you don't hear this year.
