Are LORs reviewed prior to giving out secondaries, or is that evaluated after secondary is turned in?

I was complete 7/23. If I haven’t heard anything yet, is that a good or bad sign? Any insight would be appreciated.

Was anyone able to clarify that the interview will be traditional one-on-ones, with no MMI? Earlier in this thread, someone mentioned that their website said that it's traditional, but they never followed up with a link, and I haven't been able to find it anywhere on their site

PREview replaced the MMI this cycle

Absolutely correct! We have been informed that all files that have passed the screening committee that is presented to the admission committee are all deemed academically prepared. Unfortunately, I do not have any insight into the criteria or screening method utilized by the screening committee.
Does that mean that GPA/MCAT no longer factor into the criteria used by the admissions committee to determine who is admitted?

When you receive an II, how long do you have to prepare? i.e. how far out are the interview dates from when you get the email

Has anyone gotten a II for the global health program?

technically IS but I am an oddity who hasn't lived in CA in like 9 years
But you're considered IS for the purposes of admission, right? I'm just wondering because the turnaround was so short for you. I've noticed this with other schools, where OOS applicants are receiving II for mid- to late-july applications, but IS students are only waiting for a couple weeks. I'm guessing schools have two different piles that they draw from and they prioritize IS for review.

Yes, I'm considered IS for UCLA, and i will say the turnaround is odd especially when reading some of these posts on this thread. From what I have seen though, from the individuals active on this thread there have been more OOS saying they got interviews. To be honest I am not fully aware of their rhyme or reason. I do know that they make majority of their cuts at that pre-II stage so I wouldn't be shocked if the reason it takes so long is because of that review process.

Thanks so much for the info. Congrats and good luck with interview!

Did people who interview send thank you notes? I genuinely was pretty nervous for this one so I kinda blurred afterward and forgot the interviewer names...they don't send it out beforehand too so there's literally zero info. Worth contacting admissions about or is it no big deal?

I sent thank you notes to my interviewers through admission email: [email protected]. I saved my notes as pdf files and attached them in my email.

I see, thank you! Now I just need to find a way to remember who interviewed me haha...might just email them about it.

Oh haha I remember during my interview day some people forgot their interviewers' names too! They asked the admission team and got the info, so I think emailing them would be ok .

So do we know if Oct 17th is the first wave of A? They didn't say anything during my interview when they would let us know

For those who interviewed, any tips? My interview is coming up and this is my number one choice, any feedback would be appreciated.

Can someone who’s watching the cycle more carefully than me let me know if I’m all done at UCSF/LA? I have a 3.7/525, no confirmations of receipt for my primary and no secondary sent. My primary app was verified in June but MCAT went in the end of July.

are you sure u applied to UCLA and not UCLA/Drew? I know that UCLA confirms receipt of primary pretty quickly. So if not, I would email them

@lalala_the_moon_light thank you so much for your thorough replies. In your opinion, how much weight do the interviewer's comments carry? For example, if the interviewer gives average marks would there be a more thorough examination of primaries and secondaries, or is the interviewer's opinion the ruling factor? And if such a case arises, is the interviewer asked to provide more info/reasoning behind their grades/comments

In my own personal presumption, I would say there are applicants whom we are actively trying to recruit. I personally would probably want to let those individuals know that we are actively trying to recruit them as early as possible.
Would you say that folks who received earlier II would fall into this "actively trying to recruit" category and more likely to hear back regarding a decision earlier?

Is brown bag session mandatory? Does anyone know?

II today OOS. Gang gang. Right after my UCSF interview too. Aint no Texas schools calling tho, which is weird.

LM 74.1.
