2022-2023 UT Southwestern (UTSW)

If they're scheduling out till January now, is this probably the last batch of interviews being sent out here?

This says interview season ends late January. I think UTSW will have another round in a couple of weeks or end of November.

I asked in A&M thread last night which schools didnt call and they said UTSW and UH. I said UTSW will come calling and UH will probably ignore since Baylor and UTSW will be more inline for the stats..
I agree with you! Wow, that is a pretty stellar accomplishment. No Baylor or Tyler over here, but I got close, lol.

Dont know if they applied to Tyler.. We are only talking applied vs IIs.

On Tyler thread I suggested that anyone not from E Texas has to fit into the 4 OOS seats.

I got II at either top schools like UTSW/BCM or extremely regional/low-yield schools like UT Tyler and UTRGV. Nothing from the "middle" schools like UTMB/A&M which I thought I was the best fit for. Med school admissions is truly unpredictable, unless you're the superstars getting every TX II haha.

Dude the same thing has been happening to me. So cryptic.

My conspiracy radar points to TMDSAS schools knowing where people are getting interviews and deciding to hold off. Someone said they only know that after they called you but what process tells them only at that point and not before?

Maybe! I personally feel like that's unlikely because there are several ppl here with II from nearly every TMDSAS school, but who knows lol

The expectation is if you meet the requirements, the same people get invited most places. Let us say someone has 75-82, they get invited to every place they apply to (in theory they will not file secondaries they dont want to apply to). Someone has 65-75, there is a range of schools they get invited to and based on some additional institutional needs and fabulous ECs, they will be considered by what we consider the elite Texas schools.

The selectivity that happened to you should not have happened where the tops and bottoms invited and rest ignored.

True. My LM is quite high but EC's are probably lacking compared to other applicants in my stat range. That's probably why.

keep the faith; i was complete for utsw in early july and only heard back today! until they stop extending II, you still have a chance.

i was complete a lot earlier, so it’s hard to keep hope at this point. Thank you. My situation is not bad at all. Im still grateful for the IIs and prematches. Being in Dallas with family, friends, SO, are all pretty important factors, but I know I’ll make it work regardless of the outcome :’)

If you go to A&M you could be back home 10 months later or go to UTMB and play beach volleyball all year long. You are doing ok. 🙂

on another note. I wonder if it’s more expensive to do the MD/MPH
MPH is done thru UT Houston as a common school for all UT schools. You have to pay separately for each class you take and so yes, it adds on.

UTSW has launched their own MPH program this year, it’s not going to be done through UT Health anymore apparently

Is anyone going to the MD/MPH info session tonight who can give me the cliff notes version?

I plan on watching the recording once it’s available but my husband has an event tonight that we’re attending and my interview is tomorrow.

Only question that truly matters is whether taking classes in the new program (UTSW's new school vs UTH Health Sciences) makes it cheaper.

The current program has students paying for each class. It is not cheap!
