All the mid July folks wiped out this wave… me with my august app is counting down days for that sweet sweet rejection
Me too, been complete since mid-Aug here and IS :/ - I'm holding on for dear life haha

OOS R, heavy research LM 73, submitted 7/27. was a high reach so not too surprised

Just in case anyone wanted to know, the PCAT application became available for me today! Just completed and submitted it. My regular interview is 10/13. Could anyone part of the PCAT program currently tell me how long it takes to receive an interview? (or when you receive the application for it)

I’m sure there’s no real way to know but they have more interview spots to extend? I would really like to go here and I haven’t received a R (complete 7/24) but idk if it’s just a silent R.

Do you get tech from the school during M1?
How is Public transportation in Pittsburgh?

How does has being from Pitt Med affected you during residency interviews?
I’m not aware of any free/built into tuition tech but that may have changed.

I’ve relied on public transport pretty heavily throughout medical school. The only times when it’s been a challenge are on any surgical service when you need to be there before buses start running. Other than that though it’s very feasible to get to/from campus by bus.

The Pitt reputation does has a positive effect come aways/interviews, although we’re not into the bulk of interview season just yet. It’s nice coming from a place where the attendings are generally well known among academic circles, and having every specialty under one roof is always a plus (ie you won’t need to go to another campus/hospital to find some niche subspecialty). In terms of training and residency prospects I’ve been very happy with Pitt.

Thank you for answering my questions. Are lectures recorded and optional or mandatory in-person?

Lectures were entirely not mandatory for my class, but I don’t have a ton of info on the new curriculum unfortunately. Hopefully a first or second year can chime in.

To clarify for anyone who enjoys learning in that format, we do have great lecturers and I know many people who relied on that exclusively. Point being that you have options, as you likely will at most programs.

How is the campus experience, in terms of facilities available to med students, access to undergraduate campus? Do med students have their own gym/workout area and their own library space? How is the simulation tech that you use during practicals?

The campus has significantly improved with the new wing opening earlier this year. Plenty of great study spaces, treadmill desks, new student lounge, Panera, etc.

People tend to scatter among the PBL rooms to study but there’s a library in scaife (main med building), and we have access to the undergrad libraries/study spaces.

We don’t have our own gym, but there are several split with the undergrads and across the street from scaife. The main gym at the Pete does get overrun during peak hours but overall hasn’t been a huge issue.

I’m not sure if they added sim tech with the new curriculum. Then again, we didn’t even get to do anatomy lab because of COVID haha. The new anatomy labs are gorgeous so I wouldn’t be surprised if they have some fancy new stuff as well. We have all the typical dummies to practice clinical stuff, typically in organized sessions, and our standardized patient program truly is excellent.
