can we send a letter of interest before getting any sort of communication? i submitted my secondary 9/22 but was told to submit one around november/december -- thoughts?
I was told that your application IS your letter of interest— they know you want to go to their school, especially so close to when secondaries came out/we’re submitted. As for November/December, my advisor said that that’s a good time for updates, and that letters of interest/intent are more for post-interview or when you’re on the waitlist

is your advisor someone from ucsd som? i am sus about advisor advice as ive received misleading info over the years :/

but that makes sense! i've been looking at previous threads to see when people completed their secondary and received news from UCSD and it seems non-linear so i am trying to find a streamlined process to help alleviate some of the stress lmfao

She’s not, but I’ve heard this from multiple advisors (mine from a T20 school, Dr. Ryan Gray and others on his podcast, posts here, etc)

As hard as it is, I think we just have to sit tight and wait… especially with the UCs because they have so many applicants

For anyone who interviewed - did you take notes on a pen/paper or did you have a split screen so you could type notes on the side? Any advice on if one is preferable over the other? I don't want them to think I'm cheating if I split screen but I can type faster than I write and that way I won't be looking down as much either. Thanks!

I took notes on a piece of paper! No issues there. I’d recommend it over typing so no one potentially thinks you’re googling an answer (not that there are true answers anyway). Your camera is off for your prep time so it’s really up to you though

I typed. That's how I practiced and I found it to be MUCH easier and faster for me than handwriting. Like someone else said, they tell you to turn your camera and microphone are off during prep so I doubt it would make a difference how you do it.

OOS II yesterday. Complete 8/3. Really happy about this one, I love the school but I thought my chances were zilch.

Wondering if there is a correlation with app reviewers and the question that asked about the potential path in medicine?

Was complete July…wonder if they’re going in order…

When did UCSD say they will give out the first round of decisions?

they said “by Nov 3” for those of us who interviewed 9/20 but they didn’t specify how soon before then we’d hear back 🙁 wondering if any other applicants have better insight 😂
Interviewed 9/12 and this was also the date that was given to us

OOS interview hold

Edit: complete 8/7
