Congrats future doctor! Did you get an email beforehand with a subject line saying “SHSU-COM Admissions: Admissions Committee Review Complete”? I just got an email like that. It basically said they were done looking at my profile.

It said admissions decision, then a follow up email a min later saying congrats on your prematch; i just got a review email and that was after the prematch 🤣

I only got the file review complete email. I interviewed Oct 11th so I wouldn’t be surprised if they take longer to hand me a decision email.

It’s ok me too and I interviewed with them last year so I’m lil bummed about not hearing anything this year I know they had dates all the way into January so if it is similar to what they had last year there should be a few left.

Does SHSU accept post II letters of intent? This is my top choice and it would be nice to get a prematch, although not required to be admitted ik bc of match day stats, but to save on DO deposits.

They claim they do not accept anything post II but I was speaking with a current student and they told me that’s not true. I sent an update letter like 2 weeks ago and they sent an email back thanking me so I’m guessing they do look at them? Not too sure.

OMM mandatory (lecture+lab). Anatomy lab mandatory. Interspersed mandatory lectures here and there. Exams are in-house on profs' lectures.

From my understanding, they don't "officially" accept anything, as in they won't necessarily add it to your file, and Adcom isn't guaranteed to see it. I still sent one (intent & update) anyway because I thought there was a chance it would help, and it definitely couldn't hurt. I received a response saying "Thank you for letting us know this information. Your response has been recorded"

Personally, I went with in person mainly because I wanted to get a feel of the campus in person and figured they might release both interview day acceptances on Match day (that's my hunch - I have 0 proof, so take what I say with a grain of salt). I also don't live too far. But it's up to you!

Since both interview dates are so late in the cycle, and close to Match Day, I don't believe there's an advantage to interviewing earlier unless they're still giving out pre-matches for the 1/10 date! Since it's a match system, if you're matching normally, then as long as you get an interview, you're compared equally to everyone else who interviewed before you because the schools have one rank list to put all interviews on, if you get what I'm saying.
